Kyaw Sein Pe (1935–2008)

Do Hen Pau, born in , completed studies at Spicer Memorial College in Pune, Maharashtra, India. He worked as an evangelist, assistant pastor, translator, bookkeeper/accountant, secretary/treasurer, assistant union treasurer, union treasurer, and manager of Kinsaung Publishing House from 1969 to 2010.

Kyaw Sein Pe was an evangelist and church administrator from Myanmar. Early Life, Education, and Marriage Kyaw Sein Pe was born to a Buddhist family December 21, 1935,1 at Padauksu village, township, Delta- , Myanmar (then Burma). His parents were U San Pe and Daw Ngwe Su, farmers, and they had two sons: Kyaw Ohn Pe and Kyaw Sein Pe.2 Kyaw Sein Pe spent his early childhood studying at Padauksu village Buddhist Monastery School. At the age of 11 he went to Adventist High School in 1946 and studied from primary grades through 10th standard.3 He was converted to Adventism in January 1951 at the age of 16. In March 1956 he passed the Division School Leaving Certificate (DSLC), equivalent to matriculation. In 1959 he was sent for further studies to Spicer Memorial College, Poona, India, and completed a B.Th. in 1964.4 On March 8, 1966, Kyaw Sein Pe married Reenie Ohn (Hla Hla Ohn) at Yangon Central Adventist Church.5 She was born August 11, 1936 and was baptized April 5, 1951. She studied at Bago Karen High School, Ahlone-Kemedine township, Yangon, and passed matriculation. She taught at Yangon Adventist English Middle School until the nationalization of private and mission schools on April 5, 1966. The Kyaw Sein Pe family had four children: Htun Hla Sein (male, December 2, 1967), Marlar Sein (female, September 8, 1969), Maung Ohn Sein (male, June 5, 1972), and Daniel Sein Kyaw Hla Sein (male, May 25, 1977). They also had 11 grandchildren.6 Ministry Kyaw Sein Pe first worked as an evangelist at May Myo (Pyinoolwin) for two years (1957-1958).7 He went for further studies to Spicer Memorial College, Poona, India, for five years (1959-1964). Returning from Spicer, he served as an assistant church pastor and pastor at Yangon, Ahlone, Kanbe, and Insein for seven years (1964-1970).8 He was ordained to the gospel ministry at the yearend meeting in 1970.9 Then he was appointed as the union Publishing director for three years (1971-1973).10 He also worked as an instructor for the Union Bible Seminary, Myaungmya, for two years (1974-1975).11 He was then appointed president for ten years (1976-1985)12 of the Ayeyarwady-Delta Mission. After that he served as the manager of the Kinsaung Publishing House for four years (1986-1989).13 Again he was appointed as the union Publishing director for the second time for two years (1990-1991).14 He also served as a pastor for Yangon Central Church and Yangon Attached District leader for five years (1992-1996).15 From 1997 to 2001, he served the Myanmar Union as a Legal and Trust Service director.16 Later Life Kyaw Sein Pe served the Seventh-day Adventist Church community for 43 years. He retired from church employment on January 1, 2002, and settled in Yangon. On October 29, 2008, he was hospitalized in Shwe Gone Daing Specialist Hospital at 10:00 am and died on the same day due to heart failure. Mrs. Kyaw Sein Pe (Reenie Ohn) died with liver cirrhosis on July 17, 2017, at the Government Specialist Hospital in Yangon.17
