There were myriad reasons for this, from Nordic noir to gastronomy via architecture, craft beer and even knitwear. Football fans of a certain age wondered what took everyone else so long to discover this. In the mid- 1980s, Denmark were the most interesting and perhaps the best football team in the world, an almost unprecedented achievement for a country with a population of only five million. ‘What Denmark did was amazing,’ said Diego Maradona. ‘They were like a bullet train.’ They made history by playing football from the future: a fast-forward version of the Dutch Total Football that had charmed the world in the 1970s, and with the same unashamedly attacking intent. Denmark’s style made children fall in love with football and reminded adults why they had fallen in love with it in the first place. -

Football of today is not a carefree game but big business" - A study of Swedish leading football journals view of the Swedish national football team and the professionalization 1958-2015 In this study we’ve followed the Swedish national team in football from 1958, nine years before the removal of the Swedish amateurisms, throughout the professionalism until 2015. The purpose has been too look at the leading football and sports journals to compare the view of the Swedish national teams in football during the world cup years of 1958, 1974, 1994 and the qualification too the UEFA Euro 2016 which was played in 2015. We have also looked into the view of the professionalization of Swedish football which has turned into a more international professionalization during the last twenty years. The football and sports journals we’ve study is Idrottsbladet (1958 & 1974), Svensk fotbolltidning (1974 & 1994), Goal (1994 & 2015) and Offside (2015). We have an analysis with focus on the professionalisms progress. The analysis is based on three views, philosophy, organization and economics. The philosophy has changed from being a game too become a spectacle, the organization has gone from volunteering too wage work and professionalism too interacting agents. In the economics football has gone from having its focus on the results of the sport to the result of the profit, to being about money by spectacle. -

LOO 2015 — Dick in a Seasonal Box Packet 4B Written By
LOO 2015 | Dick in a seasonal box Packet 4b Written by Ostentatious Hydromancy (Samuel Cook, Filip Drnovsek Zorko, Frederic Heath-Renn, Anthony Martinelli) Edited by David Knapp 1. Version 1.2 of this game changed the colour of its antagonist's blood from red to green and replaced a musical theme that had been criticised for resembling a Muslim call to prayer. A stealth section in this game sees the player infiltrate the Gerudo Fortress while a race against Dampe's ghost allows the player to acquire the Hookshot. Its climactic battle forces the player to fight without the Master Sword following Link's first face-off against Ganondorf. For ten points, name this 1998 Zelda game which is consistently rated the best game ever made. ANSWER: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time [prompt on \Legend of Zelda" before mentioned] 2. One scene in this film features the death of a Canadian admiral from asphyxiation in a plot to steal a helicopter. A minor character in this film, Boris, has the catchphrase \I am invincible!", which is proven to be false when he is covered in liquid nitrogen. This film’s main villain, codenamed \Janus", is assured a messy death as he is played by Sean Bean. That death is being crushed by a huge satellite transmitter. The boss of this film’s protagonist, played by Judi Dench, labels him a \sexist, misogynist dinosaur"; that protagonist must prevent the use of the titular Russian satellite weapon. For ten points, name this Bond film, the first starring Pierce Brosnan. ANSWER: Goldeneye 3. -

Raynor, South Yorkshire's Forgotten Football Giant
SPORTS RETRO BARNSLEY MAN MANAGED SWEDEN TO SECOND AND THIRD IN WORLD CUP FINALS Raynor, South Yorkshire’s forgotten football giant Freelance writer Kelsey Raynor pays tribute to her late relative Barnsley-born George Raynor, who managed Swe- den to the later stages of two World Cup finals in an amaz- ing career which finished as boss of Doncaster Rovers, but is sadly little remembered in English football circles. Born in Hoyland, South York- shire on the 13th of January 1907, George Raynor had grown up in an area populat- ed by coal miners. Little did we know that George Raynor coaching youngsters in Sheffield, above; with wife Phyllis and youngest son, David after arriving at Belle George’s upbringing in this Vue, below; and with Jackie Bestall, who was to take over as Rovers caretaker when George left, bottom mining town would produce one of England’s greatest football managers. From an early age, aca- demic success and football became part of George’s daily life. In his autobiogra- phy Football Ambassador at Large he informs readers that he was in the Standard 7 aged 10 and attended Barnsley and District Grammar, whose pu- pils also included Dickie Bird, George Raynor at Belle Vue with the Town End in the background; below: a after receiving a County Mi- Raynor era Rovers team group from 1968. nor Scholarship. George later started an apprenticeship at his local butchery but not having Sat- urdays, the day of sport , to himself soon saw him resign and become a labourer. This resulted in him meet- ing his wife, Phyllis Whitfield in Elsecar.
