Bradds on Updated Lou Henson Preseason Award Watch List: Belmont junior forward Evan Bradds was the only OVC player on the Updated Lou Henson Player of the Year Watch List as announced by CollegeInsider.com in early January. The award is given to the top mid-major player in Division I basketball and named about the leg- endary coach who spent 41 years combined at Illinois and New Mexico State. Belmont teammate Craig Bradshaw was on the preseason list but not among the 30 players on the updated list.

Recent Postseason Success: Last year (2014-15) the OVC placed fi ve teams in the postseason (1 NCAA, 1 NIT, 3 CIT) which established a new record for the league (breaking the previous mark of four teams). Those teams combined for an 8-5 overall record, the most wins in a single postseason for the league. Overall OVC teams have now at least won one game in each postseason for seven-straight years, the longest stretch in league history. Team Notes Team Notes After winning three of four games, Jacksonville State suffered a pair of home Morehead State won a pair of Conference games last week to improve to 6-3 in OVC losses last week to slip to 4-6 in league play...The Gamecocks opened the league play and keep pace with three other teams in the top half of the East Divi- week with a loss to fi rst-place Belmont (72-63) before falling to Tennessee State sion...The Eagles improved to 8-2 at Johnson Arena this season with a 75-65 win (78-53)...The team’s leading scorer, Malcolm Drumwright (14.0 points/game) suf- over Austin Peay in a game that saw them shoot 55 percent (33-of-60) from the fered an injury early in the Belmont game and did not play in the TSU game on fi eld...The week fi nished with a 70-67 victory over rival Eastern Kentucky where Saturday...The Gamecocks were also without freshman Christian Cunningham MSU struggled from the fi eld (36.4%) but held EKU (who ranks second in the OVC for the TSU contest; Cunningham leads the team in blocked shots and is second in 3-point shooting) to just 1-of-17 (5.9%) from 3-point range...DeJuan Marrero in rebounding...Jeremy Watson led the team with a 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds/ netted his fourth double-double of the year with 11 points and 12 rebounds at game margin during the week and also connected on 14-of-15 (93.3%) free throw Eastern Kentucky...He was one of four MSU players in double fi gures in that win attempts...Freshman DelFincko Bogan came off the bench in both games last as Xavier Moon led the way with 14 points...Moon also led the team in scoring week to average 8.5 points and 1.5 rebounds/game; he had 13 points against against APSU, hitting 7-of-12 fi eld goals on his way to 16 points...Brent Arrington Tennessee State...Greg Tucker led the team with 15 points against the Bruins... added a double-double with 10 points and a career-high 11 assists...Morehead The Gamecocks rank fi rst in the OVC in 3-point defense (31.4%)...Jacksonville State now has six players averaging between 12.1 and 8.1 points/game...The State will host Tennessee Tech on Saturday in its only action of the week. Eagles rank fi rst in the OVC in 3-point percentage (38.9%), scoring defense (66.7 points/game), steals (8.3/game), rebounding margin (+5.0/game) and turnover margin (+1.9/game)...Nationally the team is 20th in steals, 23rd in 3-point shoot- ing and 52nd in rebounding margin...Morehead State will play at Belmont and Tennessee State in a pair of key matchups this week.

Team Notes Team Notes SIUE dropped home games to Southeast Missouri and Eastern Illinois last week Tennessee State suffered a heartbreaking last second loss at Tennessee Tech and is now 4-18 overall and 1-9 in OVC play...The Cougars have lost four in a row to begin last week but rebounded with a convincing 78-53 victory at Jacksonville and 11 of their last 12 games...Burak Eslik was the only SIUE player to average State...The Tigers are now 15-6 on the season which is three times as many double fi gures last week in averaging 11.0 points and 4.0 rebounds/game; he had victories as they recorded in either the 2013-14 or 2014-15 seasons (when 16 points on 2-of-5 3-point shooting in the game at Southeast Missouri...Freshman they won fi ve games)...The current 10-win improvement on the season is the Carlos Anderson was second on the team in scoring last week in averaging 9.0 most nationally...The team is 6-2 in OVC play which is just 1.5 games out of points/game; he netted his fi rst double-double of the season on Saturday against fi rst place...Against TTU Keron DeShields was fouled with fi ve seconds left and EIU, scoring 10 points and pulling down 11 rebounds...Anderson has led the team nailed all three free throws to tie the game before the Golden Eagles were fouled in scoring fi ve times this year and has scored in double fi gures in 14 games... and converted two free throws with 0.5 seconds remaining to win the game... Josh White came off the bench to score 10 points, pull down three rebounds, dish DeShields led the way with 37 points (including 12-of-14 free throws) in 36 minutes out an assist and record a steal...Michael Chandler blocked eight shots against of play; it marked his second-straight 30-plus point game, making him the fi rst Southeast Missouri which was the most by an OVC player this season and tied for TSU player since 2014-15 to achieve that feat...Tahjere McCall had 17 points, 10 seventh nationally; the eight blocks tied the SIUE single-game record...As a team rebounds, fi ve assists and three steals in the game; McCall added 18 points and SIUE had 10 blocked shots in the game, the most in its Division I Era (and one eight rebounds in the win at JSU...Wayne Martin netted his ninth double-double off the school record)...The Cougars are third in the OVC in blocks (3.8/game)... (third in the OVC) against the Gamecocks with 13 points and 12 rebounds...The SIUE continues its four-game homestand on Saturday when they host UT Martin. Tigers are fi rst in the OVC in rebounding (38.4/game) and fi eld goal percentage defense (40.2%) and second in scoring defense (67.6 points/game), blocks (3.9/ game) and rebounding margin (+4.5/game)...Tennessee State returns home after three road contests to host Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State this week... The Tigers are 7-1 at the Gentry Center in 2015-16.

Team Notes Team Notes Tennessee Tech topped the other top two teams in the OVC East Division last UT Martin began last week by suffering its fourth-straight loss, an 82-74 defeat week to improve to 16-7 overall and 8-2 in OVC play; the Golden Eagles are just at Eastern Illinois...The week concluded with a 63-59 victory over Murray State, half a game out of fi rst place in the league...Tech is now 12-0 at the Eblen Center marking just the fi fth all-time victory over the Racers for the Skyhawks in the 51 this season, its best mark since starting the 2004-05 season 13-0...The overall all-time matchups...Twymond Howard averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and start is the best for the program since 2001-02 (when the team fi nished 27-7)... 2.5 assists/game during the week while hitting 54.2 percent from the fl oor; he Tech trailed most of the second half against Tennessee State before grabbing a had 19 poitns and fi ve rebounds in the victory over MSU on Saturday, the fi rst at lead with 3:32 to play; after TSU tied the game with fi ve seconds to go, Torrance home over the Racers since January 2009...Junior Kedar Edwards netted his third Rowe got fouled on the last possession and made two of three free throws to double-double of the season with 12 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, a block secure the victory...Rowe was named OVC Player of the Week after averaging and steal in 38 minutes of action against Murray State...Alex Anderson averaged 22.5 points, 3.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals/game; Rowe had 19 points 15.0 points/game in the two games last week including a team-high 20 against against the Tigers and two days later added 26 points in a win over Belmont, which Murray State; that total included seven of his squad’s fi nal eight points over the marked the fi rst Conference loss of the season for the Bruins...Ryan Martin and fi nal 2:53 of the game...Anderson has 150 3-pointers in less than two seasons Hakeem Rogers shared OVC Newcomer of the Week honors after combining for with the Skyhawks which ranks third among all active OVC players...UT Martin 39.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals/game...Martin averaged hit 50.5 percent from the fi eld in the two games last week...The Skyhawks are 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds/game in recording double-doubles in each game; second in the OVC in 3-point defense (32.8%)...UT Martin will host Austin Peay Coming off the bench Rogers averaged 21.5 points/game and knocked down six on Thursday night before traveling to SIUE for a Saturday matchup. 3-pointers during the two wins...Anthony Morse increased his career blocks total to 99 (in 102 career games) to move into fourth place on the school’s career list... The Golden Eagles rank fi rst in the OVC in free throw percentage (74.4%), blocks (4.2/game) and scoring margin (+6.0/game) and are second in 3-pointers made (8.6/game)...Tennessee Tech will play just once this week when they travel to Jacksonville State for a Saturday matchup.
