Team Notes Team Notes Jacksonville State concluded its season with a pair of road losses to fi nish with a Morehead State capped the regular season with three-straight victories (and wins 5-11 OVC mark and miss out on the OVC Tournament fi eld for the third-straight in eight of its fi nal 11 games) to fi nish OVC play with a 10-6 overall record...After season...The Gamecocks had been hot down the stretch, winning three-straight losing a tiebreaker with UT Martin, the Eagles earned the No. 5 seed and will open games (including topping Belmont) but came up just short of eighth place in the OVC Tournament action on Wednesday against No. 8 seed Southeast Missouri... standings...Senior Jamal Hunter capped his career by setting the school record Those two teams have played just once in OVC Tournament play (a 91-84 MSU for blocked shots in a game (9) against Morehead State; he broke the previous victory in the 2003 event); Morehead State beat Southeast Missouri 7-57 in Cape mark of seven (which he had done twice)...Hunter fi nished the season with 63 Girardeau on Jan. 8 in the only meeting between the teams this season (overall blocks, setting a new school single-season record and single-season blocks/ MSU has won three-straight against SEMO)...The Eagles are appearing in its game record (2.1/game)...Hunter is one of just four players in Gamecock history eight-straight OVC Tournament and the team has won at least one game in the (and the only two-year player) to net 100 or more career blocks (108)...Senior event in each of the past six seasons including winning the championship in 2009 Darion Rackley capped his four-year career with 1,326 points, making him 12th and 2011 (with OVC Player of the Year Kenneth Faried)...Senior Karam Mashour on the Jax State career scoring list (and second in the program’s Division I Era); has been the team’s top player in OVC play, averaging team-highs of 14.5 points Rackley is fi rst all-time in JSU history in free throws made and attempted...In ad- and 7.8 rebounds/game in 16 league games (as opposed to just 10.1 points and dition to Rackley (15.1 points/game) , D.J. Team Notes Team Notes Tennessee Tech ended the season with fi ve-straight losses to fi nish OVC play First-year head coach Heath Schroyer helped the Skyhawks to a huge turnaround 4-12 overall and miss the OVC Tournament for the second time in the last three in just one season, taking a squad that was 8-23 (3-13 OVC) before his arrival to seasons...The Golden Eagles struggled away from home, compiling a 2-14 road 18-11 (10-6 OVC) in 2014-15...The team also is guaranteed of a winning record, record (with wins over North Florida and UMKC, both of which came in the month only the fourth time that has happened in the program’s 23-year Division I history... of December)...Newcomer Charles Jackson fi nished the year with an OVC-best Since winning the OVC regular season championship in 2009, the Skyhawks had 18 double-doubles which was the second-most in TTU single-season history, only qualifi ed for two OVC Tournaments (2011, 2013), but were seeded eighth in each of those seasons; this year UTM will be the No. 4 seed and get a bye to trailing only the mark of 20 set by Lorenzo Coleman in 1996-97...Jackson had the quarterfi nal round where they will play either No. 5 Morehead State or No. a season-best 17 rebounds in his season fi nale at Eastern Kentucky; the 17 8 Southeast Missouri on Thursday night (the Skyhawks topped MSU in its only rebounds are tied for the fi fth-most by an OVC player in 2014-15...In 30 games meeting this year and split with Southeast Missouri)...Should they win that contest this season Jackson averaged 13.0 points and 9.5 rebounds/game while hitting they will meet No. 1 seed Murray State for the third time this season; despite 57.1 percent from the fi eld; those numbers ranked him second in the OVC in losing to the Racers twice, UT Martin lost those two games by a combined nine rebounding and fi fth in fi eld goal percentage...Freshman Aleksa Jugovic had a points and both games were nip-and-tuck...UT Martin is just 2-8 all-time in OVC career-high 18 points during the fi nal week of the regular season; he fi nished Tournament games...UNLV transfer Deville Smith leads the team in scoring (14.0 the season by knocking down 31 3-pointers, which was the second-most on the points/game) and ranks fi fth in the OVC in assists (4.4/game)...Fellow senior Golden Eagle squad...Newcomer Torrance Rowe led the team with 52 3-pointers Marshun Newell enters the postseason averaging 13.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 0.9 steals/game while hitting 41.6 percent (57-of-137) from 3-point during the season...Dwan Caldwell had season averages of 11.6 points and 5.3 range...UTM has four active players who average between 14.0 and 12.1 points/ rebounds/game...As a team Tennessee Tech led the OVC in rebounding (37.0/ game in its balanced attack...The team’s nine road victories this season are the game) during the regular season. most since the program won nine with All-American and future NBA player Lester Hudson in 2008-09; prior to this season UTM had only won seven combined road games over the past three seasons.
