  • Please Note : All Recorded Crime Figures Within This Document Have Been Extracted from Our Crime Recording System on 30Th March 2006 and May Be Subject to Change
Please Note : All recorded crime figures within this document have been extracted from our crime recording system on 30th March 2006 and may be subject to change. The following report relates to recorded crimes for the period of 1st January 2005 to 28th February 2006. The crime recording system used by Kent Police does not have a specific field which enables identification of school premises. The means by which Kent Police has extracted the following data is through the use of specific wording recorded within the 'Modus Operandi (MO) Scene' field. Therefore, this data is based on :- 1) Those crimes that have been reported to Kent Police 2) Those that are defined as crimes and have subsequently been recorded by Kent Police 3) And, where the appropriate wording has been recorded in the 'MO Scene' field. Whilst the 'MO Scene' field records the crime as occurring on school premises, it does not necessarily reflect crimes committed within school hours or involving pupils/teachers. The data will include, for example, crimes to school property that occur overnight i.e. Criminal Damage, Arson and Burglary. It will also include crimes that occur in the vicinity of schools, but not necessarily against school property or within the school i.e. Theft of and from Vehicles and Theft of Pedal Cycles. It is also likely that a proportion of recorded Drug Offences will involve persons not associated with the school, but were committed on school grounds i.e. fields/outbuildings/sheds/garages. Although the crime may have occurred within the vicinity of a school, it may not have been reported by persons associated with the school and therefore, the school may be totally unaware of the crime.

  • Thank You to All Those Invited Parents Who Participated in the Snapshot Opinion Poll of Life at Hazelwood School Last Week
Thank you to all those invited parents who participated in the snapshot opinion poll of life at Hazelwood School last week. We gave you just over 72 hours to answer the online survey and over 100 families gave us feedback. Your opinions were invaluable. They were fed into a kick-off Strategy Day with our Governors on Wednesday, the outputs of which will be developed and finessed over the coming weeks and months before being shared with parents. Needless to say, a host of exciting ideas emerged, some of which will be developed more quickly and implemented during the course of the early parts of this academic year. The aim will be to magnify the good, address the less strong and introduce new initiatives to address future challenges. My thanks go to the Governors who, once again, gave up a day of their time to participate in the strategy review and idea generation. Their expertise and overview proved invaluable and inspiring. They will be in school again in December for the annual Governor Immersion Day, another occasion which proves well worth the not inconsiderable investment of their time. The Governors also, on a rolling basis, participate in Pupil Shadowing Days. Each year, at least three Governors come into school to shadow a pupil in a particular year group for a whole day. They go to lessons with their nominated child and enjoy break and lunchtimes with both staff and pupils. In short, they enjoy a ‘normal’ day, immersed in the Hazelwood experience, able to observe the teaching and learning. What they see helps inform their views as they support the school in their role as Governor.

  • Bishop Chavasse Primary School Section 10
Section 10 Consultation Report Bishop Chavasse Primary School Tonbridge Kent Prepared by Christine Bayliss For Tenax Schools Trust BACKGROUND The Tenax Schools Trust is a multi-academy trust led by the Ofsted-rated ‘outstanding’ Bennett Memorial Diocesan School in Tunbridge Wells. The Trust submitted a bid to the Department for Education in 2015 for a new primary school in Tonbridge. The rationale for the bid was threefold: to enable Tonbridge parents to have the choice of a Church of England Primary School as one does not currently exist in the Town; to cater for the rapid population growth and lack of sufficient places for reception aged children; and the need for more good and outstanding primary schools in the area. The bid promised a traditional primary education for 60 pupils in each year group underpinned by a Christian ethos. In terms of admissions, up to 25% of places (up to 15 places annually) will be allocated on the basis on parental attendance at a Church of England Church. The project is supported by Kent County Council as a key element of their strategy to meet demand for much needed primary places in Tonbridge. The bid by Tenax Schools Trust was approved by the Department for Education in spring 2015 and moved into the pre-opening stage immediately thereafter. The pre-opening stage involves securing the site, applying for planning permission to be followed by construction of the permanent building and, in this case, temporary facilities for the first year of operation. It also involves setting up and running an application process for prospective parents and recruiting the head teacher and key staff.
