Accepted Schools Department for Education Bishopsgate House Feethams Darlington, DL1 5QE Email enquiry form: www.gov.uk/government/organisations/ department-for-education Mr A Smail By email 25 January 2021 Dear Mr Smail I am responding to your emails of 16 January requesting information about participation in the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) by independent schools. We have combined both of your requests into one response. I have dealt with your requests for data under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000. You asked: Would you please supply a list of establishments (LA/Estab number, Name, date) that have, since 1 September 2018, notified Teachers' Pensions of their intention to withdraw from the Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS). Ideally please could this also have the school capacity and number of pupils on it as well, where that is obtainable. You also asked: Which independent schools are currently in the TPS? The current list of independent schools that have given formal notification to leave the TPS since 1 September 2018 is set out in annex A. The table contains the names of the schools and each school’s departmental establishment code which is the code used by both the department and Teachers’ Pensions in administering the TPS on behalf of the department. You can use the establishment code to find information about the schools, including their location and contact details at https://get-information-schools.service.gov.uk/. The information about school capacity and pupil numbers is available via this website. I would like to apologise for errors in similar information we provided to you on 12 January. In that response, we advised that Halstead School and Pennthorpe School had a leaving date of 30 April 2020 - this should have been 30 April 2021 in both cases. Similarly, West Sussex Music Trust mistakenly had a leaving date of 31 May 2020, this should have been 31 May 2021. You will see that annex A to this letter corrects those errors. The list of schools currently participating in the TPS is provided as an attachment to this letter - annex B. Please note that there are eleven schools listed at the end of the table in annex A (that will leave the scheme during 2021) that we have not repeated in annex B. I hope that is satisfactory for your needs. The information supplied to you continues to be protected by copyright. You are free to use it for your own purposes, including for private study and non-commercial research, and for any other purpose authorised by an exception in current copyright law. Documents (except photographs) can be also used in the UK without requiring permission for the purposes of news reporting. Any other re-use, for example commercial publication, would require the permission of the copyright holder. Most documents produced by a government department or agency will be protected by Crown Copyright. For information about the OGL and about re-using Crown Copyright information please see The National Archives website -http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/information- management/uk-gov-licensing-framework.htm If you have any queries or you are unhappy with the way your request has been handled, you should make a complaint to the department by writing to [email protected], within two calendar months of the date of this letter. Your complaint will be considered by an independent review panel, who were not involved in the original consideration of your request. If you are not content with the outcome of your complaint to the department, you may then contact the Information Commissioner’s Office. Yours sincerely Kate Copley Deputy Director - Teacher Reward and Incentives Division Early Years and School Group Annex A Date of Date of Establishment Notification Leaving/Due Number Name (date SUMMER 2016: ISSUE 40 Thank you for taking the time to catch up with news of the old school, and with each other. May I also express my sincere thanks to Lucy Sheehan for the work she does to keep the College and our alumni in contact with each other, and also to Nick Henderson as the President of the OA Society. Nick and I have been discussing ways in which the College and OAs can work more closely together, to ensure that OAs are able to stay in contact with each other as well as with the College. Inspired by Mark Keatley Palmer, OAs of all vintages drove into the College with cars of similar or even more ancient vintage. For this and future years we merged OA Day with the Companions’ Day – the Companions being former staff. This led to many surprise reunions, as teachers realised that their pupils of yesteryear had grown into responsible middle age, and OAs realised that their teachers might have been human after all.

PRETTY GRADE II LISTED COTTAGE SITUATED AT THE FOOT OF THE SOUTH DOWNS duncton cottage, duncton, west sussex, gu28 0lt Period charm in a downland setting Delightful period cottage with original features throughout w kitchen with utility room and larder w sitting room w dining room w two cellars w four bedrooms w family bathroom w beautiful landscaped gardens w studio/workshop and garage Description Duncton Cottage is accessed via a private driveway into a generous gravelled parking area to the north with a path leading to the house. Built, we understand, in around 1650 with later additions in the 19th and 20th centuries. The property is arranged over two floors with the principal access to the ground floor being on the eastern side of the property. In practice, an entrance on the south side into a boot room then into the kitchen beyond tends to be used on a more regular basis (an alternative entrance is located on the northern side of the house providing direct access from the driveway). The traditional family kitchen features a gas and electric fired range cooker and leads to a utility room located to the rear of the house. The remainder of the ground floor features two charming reception rooms in the form of a dining room and a sitting room with inglenook fireplace housing a log burner. There is a large storage area, cellar and walk in larder. To the first floor are four double bedrooms, a family bathroom and separate WC. Of particular note are the two bedrooms to the rear of the property which both enjoy enchanting views over the garden and the South Downs.
