Bendigo Bank Grant

A big thank you to the Bank for their generous grant.

NDIS

We are still lobbying with the NDIS to include people over 65 into the scheme. As you have probably seen, there is increased discussion about this in the media.

Peter Freckleton Interview with Virginia Trioli – 5th March 2021

Peter Freckleton was recently interviewed by Virginia Trioli on her breakfast show on ABC Radio. The interview was very emotive and as a result of that, Peter was asked to speak at Rotary Geelong East which was successful. It went really well. Please see below link:

2. DISABILITY ACCESS TO VACCINES

The Victorian Government is also setting up so-called ‘enhanced accessibility centres’ to make it easier for people with disabilities to get vaccinated.

In total, nine sites will be established. Currently these include: 1. Royal Exhibition Building

2. Ballarat Mercure Hotel

The seven remaining sites will be upgraded and announced shortly.

NDIS participants and carers (and other eligible community members) are being encouraged to attend these state-run sites to receive their vaccine.

Victorian Government Disability Support Officers will be on-site to assist.

“We’ve seen first-hand the devastation coronavirus causes among our aged and disability care population… vaccination is the best way to protect the most vulnerable Victorians.”

- Health Minister, Martin Foley

We are proof that Vaccines work; Stan Kosmala

Susan Shaab reports that this letter appeared in the Adelaide Advertiser th on March 4 2021, at a time when vaccines against COVID 19 were being fiercely debated.

Stan Kosmala is a prominent member of the very organised and productive Polio Community of South Australia.

He is also an elite Paralympic sportsman and, has competed for Australia in many wheelchair sports. In this respect, he is like most polio survivors who after polio, ”just got on with their lives; doing whatever they could within the bounds of their disability.”

Over Easter, one of our wonderful committee members Geoff Dean held a garage sale. He raised $300 which he generously donated to Post Polio Victoria. Someone’s trash is another one’s treasure. Thank you, Geoff 

Please help us continue our fight to ensure all post polio survivors receive the best care and services available. Donate here to ensure we can continue to advocate for our community.

Donations over $2 are tax deductible.
