New Hampshire Knife Laws New hampshire knife laws Continue The Granite State's motto ,Live Free or Die was partially expressed in the 2010 large-scale expansion of knife rights. After massive bipartisan support for the measure in the state House and Senate, Gov. John Lynch attached his signature on May 18, 2010. From that date it was legal to own any knife or blade and wear it openly or covertly. Only restrictions apply to convicted criminals who cannot possess or carry certain types of knives. In addition, the chessboard of various local regulations, which had complicated the possession of a knife earlier, was completely repealed by the bill. New Hampshire law now pre-empts all local knife laws, and any local ordinances that violate the state's extremely broad knife rights are automatically invalid. The legality of The Knife PossessionAnyone, which is not a convicted felon can own, buy, sell, make, produce, give, or receive as a gift any kind of knife or blade. Gravitational knives, switches, balisong knives, machetes, swords, Bowie knives, daggers, dirks, martial arts throwing stars or ruriken, throwing knives, knife clasps, ballistic knives, and any other variety is allowed without restrictions. However, the continuing ban on metal knuckles (otherwise known as brass knuckles) still prevents the possession or wearing of knives with metal fingers. Section XII of the New Hampshire Law, Public Safety and Welfare, section 159:3, making it illegal for anyone convicted of a felony drug offense or felony against another person's property or person to own or carry a stiletto, a dirk, a dagger, a knife-switch, or another knife considered a legally lethal weapon. This is the only restriction by the state of property rights. Any kind of knife that is legal to own is also legal to be worn openly anywhere except schools, school grounds, and several other government buildings. As noted below, there are also no restrictions on the concealed carry of knives. Knife Length LimitNew Hampshire Law imposes no restrictions on the length of a knife blade under any circumstances where it is legal to carry or possess a knife (i.e., in most cases). The Hidden Carry of KnivesState Bill 1665-FN session of 2010 makes the concealed carry of any knife or blade completely legal, except for school property and several vacated government buildings. There is no limit to the length of knives that can be carried out in this way, nor any restrictions on the number of edges or their construction. Swords are legal, and swords or machetes can be held hidden if desired. Believe it or not, on May 18, 2010, a unanimously passed HB1665 was signed into law that repealed New Hampshire knife laws and on June 9, 2011, unanimously passed HB 544 to be signed into law that preempts New Hampshire towns, towns or political units from enacting or enforcing any knife laws. This is the story of how a few dedicated activists helped do this and how you can do the same in your state. New Hampshire really lives up to its motto Live Free Or Die. We all owe a debt of gratitude to the New Hampshire Civic Legislature, which unanimously passed the repeal and Governor Lynch to sign the signature To the law! NEW HAMPSHIRE IS NOW PAVING THE WAY FOR OTHER STATES TO REGAIN KNIFE RIGHTS FOR THEIR HONEST CITIZENS. IT'S A GREAT DAY FOR FREEDOM! Pocketknives are convenient, generic and sometimes illegal. They are small enough to be held in someone's pocket or even on a key fob and useful on a daily basis, but there are some places like an airport that with one will get you into big trouble. Each state is different, but there are some common guidelines to follow if you have or wear a penknife. Types of knives you can usually legally carry knives that are generally legal to wear almost anywhere include multifunctional devices, Swiss army knives, and utility knives, and knives with blades that are shorter than 2.5 inches. Places where it is illegal to carry a knife in the U.S. There are some places in the U.S. where it is always illegal to carry a knife, including schools, ships and government buildings. Knives cannot be delivered on board aircraft, or to military bases, except for military personnel. Property laws and property laws do not prohibit the possession of certain types of dangerous knives. Wearing laws determines what a person can have with them outside the home. Different states have different rules for what can be held and whether it should be carried out openly or can be hidden. Some states define wearing as being held on their face, while others include knives in a vehicle or within reach. In some places, knives in someone's vehicle are considered hidden, depending on their visibility and availability inside the vehicle. YesFixed Blade Length: No limit to Arkansas State Knife Laws Arkansas law prohibits carrying a knife on a person in a vehicle, or otherwise for the purpose of illegally using it as a weapon against another person. The law does not restrict those who do not intend to use a knife as a weapon illegally. Are folding knives legal in Arkansas? YesAre automatic /switchblades allowed? YesFixed Blade Length: No limit California Knife Laws Citizens can carry any folding blade knife, but a fixed blade, such as a dagger or dirk, must be open in the shell at the waist. This law does not allow knives disguised as other items. Automatic knives, which exceed 2 inches in length, are not allowed anywhere open to the public, including in vehicles. The municipalities of Los Angeles and San Francisco have stricter laws. Are folding knives legal in California? YesAre automatic /switchblades allowed? NoFixed Blade Length: Colorado State Knife Laws Colorado Act allows citizens to legally own almost any knife such as a switch or gravity knife except for a ballistic knife.

    Shakespeare’s Penknife: Grafting and Seedless Generation in the Procreation Sonnets Vin Nardizzi University of British Columbia Cet essai remet dans son contexte la figure de la greffe qu’utilise Shakespeare dans ses « sonnets de procréation » (numéro 1-17) par l’examen de la présentation de cette technique horticole dans la littérature de jardinage des seizième et dix-septièmes siècles. On y argue que le personnage du sonnet 15 se réfère à cette littérature, se terminant sur le vers « I engraft you new », visualisant la greffe horticole autant comme une technique d’écriture que comme une forme analogue à la procréation humaine. The “incensed political Surgeon” is more easily recognized: he is Jonathan Swift, preparing with his usual relish for a familiar satirical operation.
