His new film Shirin, a retelling of a classic Persian love story, offers a feast for the imagination of a wholly unexpected kind. PLAYING AWAY (Dir: Horace Ové / With: Norman Beaton, Robert Urquhart, Gary Beadle / UK 1987 / 100min / Cert 15) From acclaimed Black British filmmaker Horace Ové (Pressure, 1975) comes this comedy of manners in which a West Indian cricket team from Brixton travel to a Suffolk village to play against the local team as the culmination of the village‘s ‗Third World Week‘. -

We are grateful for this support that we believe will take the fest to the next level, validating the hard work of the Loft staff, Board of Directors and volunteers! One of our most exciting new projects is LOFT FILM FEST ON THE ROAD. We are the first American member of the Solar World Cinema network, which takes unique films to unusual places in 17 countries around the world. The Loft Film Fest on the Road will take select films from the festival to underserved urban and rural areas throughout Southern Arizona. We have a van outfitted with solar panels and lined with batteries to use the sun to power the projector and sound system and inflate the screen, making it possible for us to take films literally anywhere! Thank you to Technicians for Sustainability for donating the equipment and installation of the solar panels and batteries! We want to thank our title sponsor Desert Diamond Casinos and Entertainment for their continuing support for the festival, and Loft Film Fest on the Road, helping us increase the impact and outreach of the fest. Thank you to everyone who attended the Loft Film Fest 2016, and save the date NOVEMBER 8 – 12, 2017 for the 8th annual Loft Film Fest! 2 THE SEVENTH ANNUAL LOFT FILM FEST The seventh annual Loft Film Fest lit up the desert November 9-13, 2016 with an extraordinary line-up of stellar films, guests and special events at the Loft Cinema in Tucson, Arizona!
