Peacock Preps Originals for July Launch

When NBCUniversal's new streaming service, Peacock, launches on July 15, it will include a slate of new originals for both adults and kids as well as a new sports documentary and an entire feature-length film.

These new shows-including Brave New World, The Capture and Intelligence-join such NBC favorites as 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, The Office, Downton Abbey, Yellowstone, Friday Night Lights and many more. The service also will offer feature films, news, sports and current-season programming from NBC and Telemundo. Comcast Xfinity subscribers already have access to Peacock's library programming as the service prepares to debut. Later this summer, the app will become available across platforms.

Peacock Kids will be home to new episodes of Curious George and two original series from DreamWorks Animation: Cleopatra in Space and Where's Waldo?.

Premiere dates for future Peacock originals and exclusive content will be announced later this year.

"We're proud to establish our voice and are excited to build on our strategy to attract a wide audience to Peacock."

'Brave New World'

Brave New World is based on Aldous Huxley's classic novel and stars Alden Ehrenreich (Solo), Harry Lloyd (Game of Thrones) and Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey). The show is set in the futuristic utopian society of New London, where stability has been achieved through the prohibition of monogamy, privacy, money, family and even history. But that all changes with the arrival of John the Savage (Ehrenreich), who reveals that the rest of the world isn't necessarily abiding by all of these rules, upending New London's fragile peace.

Brave New World comes from Universal Cable Productions in association with Amblin Television. It's executive produced by David Weiner, who also serves as showrunner, and Grant Morrison along with Amblin Television co-presidents Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey. Owen Harris, directs the first two episodes, and also executive produces.

The Capture

The Capture is a conspiracy thriller set in the world of global intelligence. When Shaun Emery's (Callum Turner, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald) conviction for a murder in Afghanistan is overturned, he returns to life as a free man. But when damning CCTV footage comes to light, Shaun finds himself having to fight for his freedom once again.

The series also stars Holliday Grainger, Ron Perlman, Famke Janssen, Ben Miles, Laura Haddock, Lia Williams, Sophia Brown and Paul Ritter.

The Capture comes from Heyday Television and NBCUniversal International Studios. It's created, written and directed by Ben Chanan. Executive producers are David Heyman, Rosie Alison and Tom Winchester for Heyday Television, Tom Coan for NBCUniversal International Studios, Ben Irving for BBC One and Ben Chanan. Derek Ritchie serves as producer.

'Intelligence'

Intelligence is a workplace comedy set in the UK's government communications headquarters - a kind of weedier, geekier, more bureaucratic version of MI5 and MI6, where they tackle international and domestic cyber crime from a desktop.

When a pompous maverick NSA agent Jerry Bernstein (David Schwimmer, Friends) comes over from the U.S. to join the team, he enlists an inept and tactless computer analyst Joseph (Nick Mohammed) in a power grab that threatens to disrupt the team's ability to combat cyber terrorism.

Produced by Expectation, Intelligence is created and written by Mohammed, who also serves as executive producer with Nerys Evans for Expectation, Schwimmer, and Morwenna Gordon for Sky. Tom Hodges serves as co-executive producer. Charlie Leech is producer and Matt Lipsey is director.

Psych 2: Lassie Come Home

James Roday and Dulé Hill reprise their roles as Psych's paranormal investigative duo Shawn and Gus in this feature film that finds the pair helping out their old friend, Santa Barbara Police Chief Carlton Lassiter (Timothy Omundson), who is left for dead after being ambushed on the job.

Psych 2 is written by Steve Franks, who also directed, Andy Berman and Roday. Executive producers are Steve Franks, Hill, Roday, and Chris Henze.

At the 2016 Rio Olympics, swimmer Ryan Lochte was at the center of a scandal that has since overshadowed a decorated swimming career that includes 12 Olympic medals. Now this documentary reveals that the 35-year-old husband and father of two young children is hoping for one more chance to make Team USA and prove he's not the same man he was four years ago.

In Deep with Ryan Lochte is produced by Peacock and NBC Sports Films.

Lost Speedways

Created and hosted by Dale Earnhardt Jr., this series is an exploratory look at great racing cathedrals of the past. Dale Jr. and co-host Matthew Dillner tell the stories of speedways that have been forgotten, abandoned, and overtaken by nature. Racing legends join as guests throughout the series.

Lost Speedways is produced by Peacock and Dirty Mo Media, with support from NBC Sports.

Curious George

'Curious George'

First introduced more than 75 years ago, endearing monkey Curious George was created by Margret and H.A. Rey in 1941, and remains a kids' favorite.

This animated series targets preschool viewers with a focus on education. With the playful monkey as its guide, the series incorporates early concepts in math, science, technology and engineering and encourages children to use their imagination and expand their own investigations of the world.

The Curious George voice cast includes Frank Welker, Jeff Bennett and Rino Romano.

Universal 1440 Entertainment, the original content production arm of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, continues to develop and produce Curious George.

Cleopatra in Space

Cleopatra in Space​ is a comedic adventure about the legendary Egyptain queen's tumultuous teenage years. Viewers can follow Cleo (Lilimar Hernandez) as she is transported 30,000 years into the future to an Egyptian-themed planet that is ruled by talking cats. There, she discovers she is the prophesied savior of the future world.

In order to prepare for her role and mission, Cleo is sent to an elite academy where she has to train to take on the bad guys, figure out how to eventually get herself back home to Egypt, as well as tackling the highs and lows of being a teenager in high school.

Based on Mike Maihack's graphic novel series, Cleopatra in Space is executive produced by Doug Langdale and Scott Kreamer. It comes from Dreamworks Animation.

Where's Waldo?

Twelve-year-old Waldo (Joshua Rush) and his best friend Wenda (Haley Tju) are members of the Worldwide Wanderer Society, an international order of travelers who circle the globe. Their mentor-Wizard Whitebeard (Thomas Lennon), a seasoned wanderer-sends the inquisitive young adventurers on international missions so they can earn their stripes and someday become wizard-level wanderers too. But standing in Waldo and Wenda's way is their rival Odlulu (Eva Carlton), who can't help but cause trouble wherever she goes.

F.M. De Marco and John Tellegen executive produced the series, which also comes from Dreamworks.
