One had offered to work on the school garden and bring it back into use. 4/19/237 To receive apologies for absence Apologies were accepted from Cllr Wilson. 4/19/238 To receive any new declarations of interest or dispensation requests No declarations were made. 4/19/239 To receive reports from County & District Councillors District Cllr Gray stated that he would be standing as an independent candidate at the forthcoming election. He felt that the Police alert system was not local enough and he hoped to start a new system at Ranskill which could be rolled out to other villages in the future.

With the permission of the meeting the agenda items relating to Planning were moved up the order 12/18/151 Planning Applications a. 18/01416/FUL Convert existing agricultural barns into 3 dwellings and construct new access at Mattersey Grange Farm, Broomfield Lane, Mattersey Thorpe. Concern was expressed over the volume of traffic on the Lane. Historically there had expected to have been access to the Agricultural store via Ranskill Road but this had not come to fruition.

GREENWOOD COMMUNITY FOREST IN NOTTINGHAMSHIRE ANNUAL REPORT 2013 - 14 1) Greenwood Community Forest Since 1991, Greenwood Community Forest has played a major role in revitalizing Nottinghamshire’s landscape and communities, as expressed by its shared mission: “To work in partnership to enable Nottinghamshire’s communities to create, care for and to use woodlands and other high quality accessible green spaces in a sustainable way that benefits the environment, landscape and the local economy.” A small team is employed by Nottinghamshire County Council to work on behalf of the partnership. The team works closely with partner organisations to deliver benefits in areas including health, education and community cohesion as well as biodiversity. This report has been produced for Nottinghamshire County Council to outline achievements of the Greenwood Partnership over the past year. The report focuses on activities in the 2013/14 financial year but also makes reference to more recent events where this helps to provide a current position. 2) Meeting strategic needs and community opportunities Greenwood’s activities support a number of the priorities set out within Nottinghamshire County Council’s Strategic Plan: Our active network of “Friends” groups contributes towards Supporting Safe and Thriving Communities by encouraging partnership working and helping people to feel safer within their local parks. Our tree planting and other activities support Protecting the Environment , by encouraging communities to become involved in improving their local area, improving the quality of country parks and open spaces and so increasing public satisfaction. In Bassetlaw, however, the first sign that spring is just around the corner is heralded by the annual Hodscock Snowdrop Festival. This event attracts visitors from far and wide to see the millions of snowdrops in fragrant winter borders. The height of summer is the time when musical, artistic and cultural activities are staged throughout the district and the rural villages of Bassetlaw abound with summer festivities. Many residents open their gardens to the public and stage spectacular village events. A leisurely walk along the Chesterfield Canal is probably one of the best ways to enjoy a long summer evening, stopping to sample the delights of one the many picturesque pubs along the way. As evenings draw in and the leaves turn to gold, the stunning autumnal displays seen in Clumber Park can easily rival those of America’s New England states.
