'Music at the Priory' Event – Worksop
PRESS RELEASE 13th November 2018 Immediate use Pilgrims Festival 2018 – Worksop Priory – “Music at the Priory” Monday 19th & Friday 23rd November 2018 At Worksop Priory, there will be two music events, each starting at 7.00pm, with a talk about the Priory and its links to the Separatists. Each event is £10pp on entry, including a mince pie and mulled wine. On Monday 19th November, medieval harpist Leah Stuttard will perform her programme “Sacred Fragments” made up from 13th and 14th century sacred music from England played on a sweet and angelic harp with readings interspersed from the medieval mystic Julian of Norwich, a poem from a commonplace book on the shortness of life, and comedy from one of the Towneley plays. The guiding idea behind this programme is the fact that so much English music from the Middle Ages is preserved only in very random and fragile ways – in fragments. On Friday 23rd November, The Doncaster Waites will play music from the streets at the time of the Separatists. They are an early music group based in the town of Doncaster and take their name from the bands of musicians who used to be employed by local corporations as town musicians, “The Waites”. The music they play is generally centred around the first half of the 17th century, the time when the first detailed accounts of the original Doncaster Waites appear in the archives. Their costume is also based on these accounts and the men accurately represent how the original Waites would have looked at that time. Haddon (clerk), 3 members of the public 4/19/236 Public Forum Residents raised the following: • Increase in precept, cost of village maintenance • Need more affordable housing for young people • Offered to help with maintenance of Mattersey Millennium Gree Chris Bailey, Chair of Governors of Mattersey Primary School gave an update: • £4,000 deficit was excellent outcome in view of financial restrictions • School numbers were now 34 plus 5 in nursery • One teacher was returning from maternity leave and will be job sharing • There are discussions taking place regarding early years provision • Collaboration with Everton will continue and may consider having one Governing body Two Parish Councillors had attended school and were very impressed with the School Council. One had offered to work on the school garden and bring it back into use. 4/19/237 To receive apologies for absence Apologies were accepted from Cllr Wilson. 4/19/238 To receive any new declarations of interest or dispensation requests No declarations were made. 4/19/239 To receive reports from County & District Councillors District Cllr Gray stated that he would be standing as an independent candidate at the forthcoming election. He felt that the Police alert system was not local enough and he hoped to start a new system at Ranskill which could be rolled out to other villages in the future.

As Members will recall at the meeting of this Committee in January 2014 approval was given to amend the list of day to day operational decisions which can be taken by the Director, subject to the chair of Finance & Property Committee determining whether an operational decision should still be reported to Committee. It was also agreed that a report should be submitted to the Finance & Property Committee on a quarterly basis outlining all operational decisions made, supplemented annually by a review report on Estate Management operational decisions. In accordance with this decision this is the quarterly report to inform the Finance & Property Committee of Operational Decisions taken outside the Finance & Property Committee Cycle, between December 2015 and February 2016. Information and Advice 2. This report contains an exempt appendix, which is not for publication by virtue of paragraph 3 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended) (Information relating to any individual and the business affairs of a particular person (including the authority holding that information)).
