The important question is, it seems to us: what is knowledge anyway? Or—to take a cue from neurotic contemporary thought—does it even exist? For many great and ancient spiri- tual traditions, gnosis or knowledge of some sort—self-knowing, truth- knowing, love-knowing, etc.—is ‘a’ goal, if not ‘the’ goal, of the life. And yet Western culture, it seems to us, has come to question the very possi- bility of knowing anything with cer- tainty, least of all, the answers to ulti- mate questions of truth—Who are we?..Where did we come from?..What is our purpose? etc. The issue, of James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause course, is not whether there is such a thing as truth, but rather—whatever it may be—how capable are we of apprehending it. In fact, from Slaughterhouse Five to Clockwork Orange, from Catcher in the Rye to Rebel Without a Cause, countless contemporary myths have made disputing the capacity of humankind to understand truth into a kind of heroism. From psychoanalysis to existentialism, from situation ethics to political correctness, the main effect of today’s thought has been to undermine the authority that goes with true knowledge. Hamlet-like we are left to wonder if we should ‘be’ or not ‘be.’ On such issues, science—at least the kind that dominates our civilization today—does us little good. The best an honest empirical method can hope to achieve is an indication of probabilities. Nowhere to be found in the halls of academia is pure knowing, the kind that comes with what philosopher Theodore Roszak once called “rhapsodic declaration.” Present in copious quantities, though, is despair. When, a few centuries ago, we decided to free ourselves from the corrupt priesthood of the dark ages and to turn to what we thought was a more enlightened way of deciding things, we believed we were getting closer to true knowing. Ironically, what we got in the bargain was ‘doubt,’ and to replace old superstitions came a new kind of fear. Instead of hell- fire we got the void. It has taken a while for the full implications to sink in, but who can question that a widespread hunger for certitude now threatens to overwhelm civilization. Sadly, that unrequited longing has already taken many beyond the brink of madness and into the abyss. And, into the knowledge vacuum created by our corrupt scientific priesthood has rushed a multitude of false priests and charlatans promising the true wine of spiritual knowledge but delivering—from genocide to jihad—a plethora of poisons instead. Whether Adolph Hitler or Osama Bin Laden, the pied pipers of hell, by exploiting the legitimate human desire for ultimate answers, have continued to ensnare the unwary masses. Notwithstanding such bitter facts, though, we at Atlantis Rising do not believe that the quest for truth can or should ever be abandoned. Far from it. We do suggest, however, that the goal be pursued more sanely, wisely, and less fanatically. For those lost in the meaningless sea of contemporary life who yet seek to navigate past the pirate coves and into the safe harbor of true gnosis, it is worth remembering that anyone claiming special knowledge of such things, and seeking the authority that goes with it, is subject to challenge and to being required, among other things, to show his real fruits. Or, to put it another way when it comes to evaluating truth, the proof is in the pudding. Nothing else has quite the flavor of the real thing. • The Encyclopedia of New Religions Bibliography
The Encyclopedia of New Religions Bibliography The following bibliography has been constructed to enable readers to explore selected topics in greater depth. Rather than present a long uncategorized list, which would have been unhelpful and potentially confusing, the classification of literature mirrors the format of the book. (Classifying new religions and spiritualities is a notoriously difficult problem, and it should not be thought that groups that have been bracketed together do not have important differences.) In a few instances a movement may be relevant to more than one section; hence readers are advised to look in other sections if they cannot instantly locate the sought material. Anyone who compiles a bibliography on new spiritualities has to make choices, since there is a vast array of literature available. While endeavouring to include a good range of material and viewpoints, we have omitted material that we consider to be badly inaccurate or misleading. However, some religious movements have been virtually neglected by writers and hence the material indicated below is the best available. For some groups there is virtually no literature apart from their own writings. While we have aimed to incorporate material on the grounds of accessibility, quality, up-to-dateness, popularity and prominence, inclusion here does not necessarily imply endorsement by the editor or individual authors. At the end of each section a selection of websites has been provided. However, it should be noted that, whilst these were all available at the time of writing, and whilst we believe them to be relatively reliable, unlike books, websites can literally disappear overnight.

Abstract Ayurveda, the oldest Indian indigenous medicine system of plant drugs is known from very early times for preventing or suppressing various tumors using these natural drugs. And nowadays scientists are keener to researches on complementary and alternative medicine for the management of cancer. In Ayurvedic concept, according to ‘Charaka’ and ‘SushrutaSamhitas’ cancer is described as inflammatory or non-inflammatory swelling and mentioned either as ‘Granthi’ (minor neoplasm) or ‘Arbuda‘ (major neoplasm). The nervous system (Vata or air), the venous system (Pitta or fire) and the arterial system (Kapha or water) are three basics of Ayurveda and very important for normal body function. In malignant tumors all three systems get out of control (Tridoshas) and lose mutual coordination that causes tissue damage, resulting critical condition. 1 LABORATORIO INTERDISCIPLINARE DI RICERCA BIOPSICOCIBERNETICA www.laboratorio.too.it A COMPARISON BETWEEN PRESUMED PARANORMAL PSYCHOPHONIC 1, TELEPHONIC 2 AND DIRECT RADIO VOICES 3 Paolo Presi Introduction It is a great pleasure and honour for me to attend this very important Second International Conference and I would like to thank Dr. Anabela Cardoso and Professor David Fontana for their kind invitation. My presentation is concerned with some investigations performed in Bologna, at Il Laboratorio , as part of our research program on this subject. Such investigations have to be considered exploratory because to-date only a limited number of such voices has been obtained under controlled conditions. According to Ernst Senkowski’s definition of Transcommunication , Instrumental Transcommunication (ITC) includes Psychophonic voices (EVP) , Telephonic voices and Direct Radio Voices (DRV). In Italy, at Il Laboratorio , we prefer to define this inexplicable phenomenon, obtained though technical means as Instrumental Auditive Psi Interaction (IAPI). This new definition has been introduced in order to give the most objective description of the phenomenon as the consequence of a psychic interaction. In other words, the phenomenon is of a psychic nature. It must be emphasised that, when I say "the phenomenon is of a psychic nature", I mean that a final physical event (i.e. a recorded or recordable voice) is psychically originated or supported. I think that the correct meaning given of the word "Psyche" can be found in Plato's (427-347 B.C.) Socratic Dialogues (396-388 B.C.), and especially in his 1 Psicofonia (Psychophony) is the term introduced by the Spanish parapsychologist German De Argumosa in 1972.

Chapter 3 Ancient Egypt ANCIENT EGYPT AND EGYPTOLOGY ´ Stability and consistency in art for almost 3000 years! « Due to predictably of the Nile overflowing its banks annually, leaving black silt to fertilize fields « This cycle symbolized the creation and renewal of life, reflected in Egyptian myths. (Kleiner, p. 57) ´ The Rosetta Stone which provided the key to deciphering hieroglyphics, was discovered in 1799 by Napoleon and a troop of scholars. It had the same text in 3 sections: Greek, demotic (Late Egyptian), and Hieroglyphics. 2 ANCIENT EGYPT The Nile is a north-flowing river (due to elevation), originating in Lake Victoria and ending in the Mediterranean Sea. Thus, Upper Egypt is the upstream part of the Nile. 3 ROSETTA STONE John-Francois Champollion Ancient Egyptian writing was first adopted more than 5,000 years ago making it one of the earliest recorded written languages. Champollion published the first translation of the Rosetta Stone hieroglyphs in 1822, showing that the Egyptian writing system was a combination of phonetic and ideographic signs. Its secrets were lost to the modern world until the discovery of the Rosetta Stone - a stone carved in three languages: Egyptian, Demotic and Ancient Greek. The hieroglyphs were translated by comparing them to the Ancient Greek text and the mysteries of Egypt were finally revealed . What is the difference Hieroglyphic writing was in use from about 3200 BC until between Cuneiform and the late 4th century AD and changed very little during this Hieroglyphics? period and is very well
