ALBUMFACT BEYOND THE BLACK ”Heart Of The Hurricane“ Out: August 31st 2018 Beyond The Black – symphonic metal full of energy, straightforward and without any compromises! Their engines are hot, and roaring straight into the “Heart Of The Hurricane”. The title of the third album is not just a catchy phrase – it’s a promise. It’s the result of two years of work skyrocketing the band to the next level, along with a tasty appetizer for their upcoming live appearances. Their debut “Songs Of Love And Death” from 2015 has already struck like a bomb. It was in the Top 15 of the German Album Charts for weeks on end, and received honors suchs as the prestigious German “Metal-Hammer Award” for “Newcomer Of The Year”. The follow-up “Lost in Forever” from 2016 was an even bigger success and hit the German Charts at number 4. This annotated listing of both classical and popular music inspired by astronomy restricts itself to music that has connections to real science -- not just an astronomical term or two in the title or lyrics. For example, we do not list Gustav Holst’s popular symphonic suite The Planets, because it draws its inspiration from the astrological, and not astronomical, characteristics of the worlds in the solar system. Similarly, songs like Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” or the Beatles’ “Across the Universe” just don’t contain enough serious astronomy to make it into our guide. When possible, we give links to a CD and a YouTube recording or explanation for each piece. The music is arranged in categories by astronomical topic, from asteroids to Venus. Knight Area Heaven and Beyond
KNIGHT AREA HEAVEN AND BEYOND Knight Area was founded in 2004 by Gerben Klazinga. That year he released the album ‘The Sun Also Rises’, for which he wrote all the music, and to which contributed numerous musicians. The album became a worldwide success and was followed by live performances in the United States (NEARfest) and other leading progressive rock venues in Europe. The second album ‘Under A New Sign’ appeared in 2007. Also this album received excellent reviews both on national level and abroad. The promotional tour took the band again to the United States and European Festivals and venues. In 2009, the concept album ‘Realm of Shadows’ was released. The live recording of the cd presentation appeared in 2010 as the double live album ‘Rising Signs From The Shadows’. The fourth studio album ‘Nine Paths’ appeared one year later. The album was mixed and mastered by the famous Neil Kernon and Alan Douchess respectively. Delain lead singer Charlotte Wessels contributed to the album. Knight Area promoted also this album by doing a short tour in the USA. In 2012 Mark Bogert joined the band, followed by Peter Vink (ex Q65, Finch, Ayreon) in the beginning of 2013. With these newcomers the band received a heavier, fuller sound, which can be clearly heard on the EP ‘Between Two Steps’ which was released in September 2013. On October 14, 2014 the band released the fifth album “Hyperdrive”. The album has been mixed by Joost van den Broek (After Forever, Ayreon, Star One among others). Arjen Anthony Lucassen (Ayreon, Star One) contributed to the album by playing guitar on one track.

AVANTASIA The scarecrow (Symphonic Metal) Année de sortie : 2008 Nombre de pistes : 11 Durée : 63' Support : CD Provenance : Acheté Quand on en vient à chroniquer ce troisième AVANTASIA, on en est à décliner la diatribe du verre à moitié vide ou à moitié plein. A moitié plein quand on constate la qualité de pièces comme The toy master ou une fois de plus Tobi a invité un guest de marque en la personne d' Alice COOPER (mais l'album en est encore truffé ! Les énumérer me prendrait une demi page, reportez-vous au livret !) et à moitié vide quand on s’ennuie ferme sur les accords de Twisted mind ou là c’est Roy KHAN de KAMELOT qui vient pousser la chansonnette. C’est vraiment le sentiment qui ressort à la sortie de l'écoute du disque : un manque d'homogénéité du The Scarecrow en question, où le très bon côtoie le banal. Manque d'inspiration, confusion des genres avec EDGUY quelquefois, difficultés de se renouveler dans le genre, telles pourraient être les quelques constations que l’on pourrait faire à l'issue du bilan final. Le choix a été fait de faire se côtoyer au sein du même disque des titres purement Heavy Shelter from the rain comme notre trublion de Tobias sait et aime en faire avec des plans beaucoup soft à la limite du F.M (Carry me over). Très discutable comme direction, mais qui a au moins l’avantage de procurer à l'auditeur le choix dans la diversité qu'il pourra avoir pour The Scarecrow.
