The original publication was produced in nine parts. However, the plates existing in this collection include only images of Savannah cut out from an original copy (this collection does not represent a complete set of the Savannah images). The images include scenes of: the Savannah River and riverfront; street scenes; prominent government, medical, educational, religious and residential buildings; parks, squares and monuments; cemeteries; and nearby historic sites and recreational attractions. Access photocopies of the plates in the collection are available and should be used before the originals to eliminate unnecessary wear and tear. System of Arrangement and Ordering: The original plates from Artwork of Savannah… are arranged numerically by the part and plate of the original publication. An alphabetical subject and name index is included after the inventory to assist users in finding specific locations, sites, buildings, etc. The access photocopies are arranged by general subject with an index at the front (each photocopy is labeled with the part and plate number on the reverse).
