Water is difficult to source although there is a spigot at the Station Office (about 1000feet away). I have checked the landscaping for other water sources but have come up empty handed every timer. Bringing extra buckets to fill at the station is recommended, or provide another water source.

General Instruction

Cleaning needs. Soap (Dow Scrubbing Bubbles artist suggested) and water, soft bristle brushes. Rinsed with hose. Sealant 511 Impregnator (artist suggested) Procedure: a) Each sculpture will be hand scrubbed with brush, cleaning agent and water. Est. time of labor is 3 hours. b) All surfaces have to dry thoroughly, overnight or until the next sunny day. c) Stone Impregnator has to be applied by hand with brush to each sculpture. (The purpose of this is to close the pores, prevent liken and moss from growing, and facilitate easier removal of dirt and paint etc. This process should be repeated about every two years.) Est. time of labor for this is 5 hours.

Notes Water source is available at building next to sculpture. On North side. Water main key required.

R-SN.2006.01 TBD Bronze log Nancy Chew & Jacqueline Metz

General Instruction Basic Cleaning with soap and water. Varying degrees of scrubbies (green/white) are also recommended. Some of the textured areas will require a small bristle brush with nylon or other non metallic bristles. (seems like a lot of words to describe a toothbrush). Depending on the day a propane torch may be required to heat up the surface of the log for waxing. On a sunny day the log can naturally get up to a pretty hot surface (I will guarantee no one is sitting on the log on those days). Wax should be applied by brush or pad and let to set up and then buffed to a shine. Trewax Carnuba Wax is recommended or a higher grade Renaissance Micro Crystalline wax (sets up harder). Two coats would be recommended at least along the top of the log.

Required Supplies I. Basic Cleaning Kit Waxing Kit Required Equipment

Notes Water is available on the South Side of the platform from a spigot that uses a main key. 200-300 feet of hose will be required (I know).

L-NK.2008.01 Jet Kiss Mike Ross

General Instruction This is a process requiring a bit of patience and a deft hand with a microfiber towel on a stick. In the past we have brushed off the main dust, followed on with a damp cloth and then buffed with a microfiber towel. The smaller the lift the more accessible the area needing cleaned. No doubt an ST person (me) will be on hand during this cleaning Required Supplies While this job does not require water it does require an array of sponges, clothes and towels all somehow attached to poles. A twenty foot pole is a good bet. Extension poles are good and should be made of plastic er...just in case.

Required Equipment Lifts Needed Genie AWP 30-35 footers are a good choice

Notes No water is required for this job. This job will be done during non revenue hours.

Notes The bases of these pillars suffer from a super patina occuring from liquids left sitting on bronze. Some of these liquids are more oxidizing than others and the pillars under the shelter suffer more than the other two. Patience and a mixture of lemon juice and baking soda lifts off the green. Green scrubbies are best. Be sure not to scrub too hard and remove the actual patina.

Required Equipment Lift NeededA lift is needed for the cleaning of this piece. An aerial work platform or scissor lift would be best. I would be interested to test the versatile AWP25 even though we had good success with a scissor lift. The AWP has a smaller footprint and may be able to get closer to the trickier areas.

NotesWater is a bit tricky to access but there are spigots available. A bucket may be all that is needed for this piece.
