Di essa si tenta in questo contributo di cogliere l’idea e l’immagine in uno spazio geografico e in un segmento temporale, ri- tenuti privilegiati. Probabilmente in nessun altro periodo della storia l’oratorio è stato oggetto di riflessioni, che hanno coinvolto tutte e tre le branche della Famiglia sale- siana: i salesiani attraverso le autorevoli voci dei Rettori Maggiori, gli altalenanti di- battiti dei Capitoli generali – ben sei dal 1892 al 1910 – e la voce ufficiosa, ma accre- ditata, del Bollettino Salesiano; le Figlie di Maria Ausiliatrice nell’impegno di diffon- dere l’opera a profitto del mondo femminile con perseverante attenzione alle sue can- gianti esigenze; i Cooperatori e le Cooperatrici, con la precisa determinazione di con- dividere appieno con i due Istituti religiosi gli interessi apostolici. Ne sono simbolo ed espressione i loro grandi Congressi del 1895, del 1903, del 1906, che preludono o fanno eco a quelli propriamente salesiani del 1902, del 1907 e del 1911. Il movi- mento oratoriano della Famiglia salesiana, però, non procedette chiuso in se stesso, ma si aprì alle più svariate collaborazioni, collegandosi con altri, soprattutto filippino e ambrosiano, nell’intento di individuare insieme i modi e i mezzi più idonei al posi- tivo incontro colla gioventù in decenni di importanti svolte socio-culturali.     Luigi Romersa: Biography of a war correspondent Luigi Romersa, journalist and author, had a career throughout most of the twentieth century, even until the beginning of the new millennium. The ups and downs of his life and his work are the subject of the present study: in his reportage from the front lines war, he offers us a disenchanted and objective testimony on the course of the conflicts. Surely fate was favourable in allowing him to be a direct witness of some of the crucial events that determined the course of history. Later in life he continued to write about a past that many wish they could erase. He did it with determination and without bias. Some episodes he appeared to his contemporaries reported the product of a "visionary." Only recently, thanks to the opening of the archives and dissemination of time, it was found that his work corresponded to reality and was not the product of journalistic speculation. The first chapter is devoted to the first period of journalistic formation until 1939. Luigi Romersa was born in Boretto, province of Reggio Emilia, on July 5th, 1917, into a family of peasants. He majored in Law at the University of Parma. In 1937 his journalism career began while Romersa was still a college student, in collaboration with the «Gazzetta di Parma». Integrated into the fascist regime, he followed the events of the war as a war correspondent for several newspapers including «Il Corriere della Sera» and «Il Messaggero». He was a war correspondent on the African front until the fall of Tripoli, when he returned with a mandate to deliver an important military relationship to Benito Mussolini in which he earned the respect due to the clarity of the information provided on the progress of the war in Africa, beyond the logic of political expediency and propaganda.

  • Who Was John Bosco?
    Who was John Bosco? John Bosco (16 August 1815– 31 January 1888), popularly known as Don Bosco, was an Italian Roman Catholic priest, educator and writer of the 19th century. While working in Turin, where the population suffered many of the ill-effects of industrialisation and urbanisation, he dedicated his life to the betterment and education of street children, juvenile delinquents, and other disadvantaged youth. He developed teaching methods based on love rather than punishment, a method that became known as the Salesian Preventive System. A follower of the spirituality and philosophy of Francis de Sales, Bosco was an ardent devotee of Mary, mother of Jesus, under the title Mary Help of Christians. He later dedicated his works to De Sales when he founded the Salesians of Don Bosco, based in Turin. Together with Maria Domenica Mazzarello, he founded the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, a religious congregation of nuns dedicated to the care and education of poor girls. In 1876 Bosco founded a movement of laity, the Association of Salesian Cooperators, with the same educational mission to the poor. In 1875, he began to publish the Salesian Bulletin. The Bulletin has remained in continuous publication and is currently published in 50 different editions and 30 languages. His Life John Bosco was born in the evening of 16 August 1815 in the hillside hamlet of Becchi, Italy. He was the youngest son of Francesco Bosco (1784–1817) and Margherita Occhiena. He had two older brothers, Antonio, and Giuseppe (1813–1862). The Boscos of Becchi were farmhands of the Moglian Family.
