Since that time a further five species have been ascribed to the genus and one similar species within the genus Hebeloma. In total, we have studied seventeen collections that have been assigned to these seven species of Hebelomina. We provide a synopsis of the available knowledge on Hebelomina species and Hebelomina-like collections and their taxonomic placement. Methods – Hebelomina-like collections and type collections of Hebelomina species were examined morphologically and molecularly. Ribosomal RNA sequence data were used to clarify the taxonomic placement of species and collections. Key results – Hebelomina is shown to be polyphyletic and members belong to four different genera (Gymnopilus, Hebeloma, Tubaria and incertae sedis), all members of different families and clades. All but one of the species are pigment-deviant forms of normally brown-spored taxa. The type of the genus had been transferred to Hebeloma, and Vesterholt and co-workers proposed that Hebelomina be given status as a subsection of Hebeloma. -

Do Fungal Fruitbodies and Edna Give Similar Biodiversity Assessments Across Broad Environmental Gradients?

This study was part of the Biowide project, and many aspects are presented and discussed in more detail in Brunbjerg et al. (2017). Environmental variables. Soil samples (0-10 cm, 5 cm diameter) were collected within 4 subplots of the 130 sites and separated in organic (Oa) and mineral (A/B) soil horizons. Across all sites, a total of 664 soil samples were collected. Organic horizons were separated from the mineral horizons when both were present. Soil pH was measured on 10g soil in 30 ml deionized water, shaken vigorously for 20 seconds, and then settling for 30 minutes. Measurements were done with a Mettler Toledo Seven Compact pH meter. Soil pH of the 0-10 cm soil layer was calculated weighted for the proportion of organic matter to mineral soil (average of samples taken in 4 subplots). Organic matter content was measured as the percentage of the 0-10 cm core that was organic matter. 129 of the total samples were measured for carbon content (LECO elemental analyzer) and total phosphorus content (H2SO4-Se digestion and colorimetric analysis). NIR was used to analyze each sample for total carbon and phosphorus concentrations. Reflectance spectra was analyzed within a range of 10000-4000 cm-1 with a Antaris II NIR spectrophotometer (Thermo Fisher Scientific). A partial least square regression was used to test for a correlation between the NIR data and the subset reference analyses to calculate total carbon and phosphorous (see Brunbjerg et al. -

MushRumors The Newsletter of the Northwest Mushroomers Association Volume 28, Issue 4 December 1, 2017 By Eric Worden This year’s Wild Mushroom Show was a great success in inspiring new community members to join our group! Thirty one new member/families signed up at the show. In addition, 16 existing members found it convenient to renew their memberships while at the show. Our current membership total is 226! However, due to the annual nature of the show, the seasonality of mushroom activities, and our calendar-year membership period (they expire on December 31), most (148) of our current members will have their memberships expire at the end of the year unless they renew. A graph of members by last pay date shows that this same pattern occurred last year. This graph evenly distributes all members across the chart horizontally, but positions them vertically by their last renewal date. We can see that a lot of people sign up or renew shortly before or during the show, then there is a lull during the winter, before club activities resume in the spring. Note that when you join or renew during September or later, your membership lasts through the following year. Our club relies on membership fees, in addition to Wild Mushroom Show revenue to pay for our club activities and expenses. Cibaomyces, a New Genus of Physalacriaceae from East Asia

Cibaomyces is morphologically characterized by the combination of the following characters: basidioma small to medium-sized, collybioid to tricholomatoid; pileus viscid; hymenophore sinuate to subdecurrent, relatively distant, with brown lamellar edge; stipe sticky and densely covered with felted squamules; basidiospores thin-walled, ornamented with finger-like projections; cystidia nearly cylindrical, thin-walled, often heavily incrusted. Molecular phylogenetic analyses using DNA nucleotide sequences of the internal transcribed spacer region and the large subunit nuclear ribosomal RNA loci indicated that Cibaomyces was related to Gloiocephala, Laccariopsis and Rhizomarasmius. A description, line drawings, phylogenetic placement and comparison with allied taxa are presented. In April of2006 and 2008, expeditions were led to document the diversity of plants, amphibians, marine invertebrates and macrofungi on the West African islands of Sao Tome and Principe. This project aims to further document the diversity of macrofungi on the island by focusing on 24 mycenoid fungi collected from the expedition. Nineteen distinct species are recognized, of which nine are new to science. -

Introduction The studies on Turkish mycota have been carried out for more than one hundred years (Solak et al., 2015) and nearly 2400 macrofungi species have been documented in the checklists of Turkey (Solak et al., 2007; Sesli and Denchev 2008; Acar et al. 2015; Sesli et al., 2015; Solak et al., 2015; Akata et al. 2016; Doğan and Kurt 2016; Sesli et al. 2016). However, Turkish mycota have not yet been fully determined, and new macrofungi records and checklists of some limited areas have also been published by several researchers as a consequence of routine field and laboratory studies. Prior to this study, Kütahya province was the one of the areas in which macrofungi biodiversity was not determined.
