PRESS RELEASE*** July 22, 2010 for Immediate Release ATLANTIC SEABOARD WINE ASSOCIATION SIXTH ANNUAL WINE COMPETITION ***PRESS RELEASE*** July 22, 2010 For Immediate Release The Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association held the Sixth Annual Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition July 17 and 18 in Haymarket, Virginia. 110 wineries from eleven Atlantic Seaboard states entered 538 wines in the competition. The Best of Show was awarded to Rosemont of Virginia Winery for their2007 Meritage. Additionally, thirty two Best of Category awards were earned by wineries representing six states. 34 Gold Medals, 111 Silver Medals, and 188 Bronze Medals were also awarded to wines in the competition. All wines were judged by a team of twenty experienced judges, coming from seven states. These judges range from wine makers, wine retailers, sommeliers, wine educators, wine writers, wine importers, and club beverage managers. The Atlantic Seaboard Wine Competition is run by the Atlantic Seaboard Wine Association, formerly known as the Vinifera Winegrowers Association. This non-profit organization is charged with promoting the wine industry along the east coast of the United States and sponsors many events, both regionally and nationally, to that means.
