Is McDonald’s the same in China? McDonald's Corporation is the world's largest chain of , serving around 68 million customers daily in 119 countries. To what extent is the menu a reflection of what the is best known for, or does it cater to local tastes? Typically, some blending will occur to avoid regional food taboos and to make local favorites available. So what is the menu like in downtown ? In China, Chicken McNuggets come with the traditional , sweet and sour, honey and hot mustard sauces, but also a chili garlic sauce (these are very popular spices there). They also include crispy chicken wings (called McWings) on their menu, which comes in two, four and six pieces. There is also a seasonal Chinese New Year meal available, including the Grilled Chicken Burger, curly fries, with a horoscope of the twelve zodiac animals of Chinese astrology and traditional red packets for monetary gift giving as good luck. Pies come in two standard flavors - pineapple and taro- a kind of sweet potato native to the region. McDonald's China offers a delivery service in most major cities 24 hours a day via a call center and scooter. About $1.20 is added for delivery fee. In my opinion, the chicken burger tastes as bad as in the states although the fries are OK. But why would any American want to eat at a Chinese McD’s, especially when there are so many other local options like, well, KFC, , A&W, Schlotsky's Deli, The Hard Rock Café; they too can all be found in the major cities. So much for “Chinese” food!
