It is a result of numerous hours of searching the Internet and FerrariChat to find, study and learn about these classics. Many owners enjoy working on their own cars and due to the age of the car, detailed repair or maintenance write ups are often limited or difficult to find. When one enthusiast shares their experience of doing a repair or maintenance event, it is extremely valuable to other enthusiasts to learn and perhaps try the activity themselves. This collection of DIY descriptions does not replace shop manuals or professional mechanics, but is meant to augment them by providing the reader a better understanding of the repair or maintenance event. In addition, the reader should develop an appreciation for the time, effort and knowledge that goes into maintaining these classic cars. I would like to express my appreciation to the many people that contributed their time in writing the DIY experiences. The descriptions contained in this collection are more common DIY work items I collected and would attempt based on my current mechanical ability and knowledge.

  • The Great American Car Revival Words and Photography by Howard Koby
SPECIAL EVENT : 2007 COPPERSTATE 1000 Seventeenth Annual Copperstate 1000 Road Rally THE GREAT AMERICAN CAR REVIVAL WORDS AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY HOWARD KOBY or 17 years the Men’s Art Council of the Phoenix Art Museum has been F giving vintage car enthusiasts the opportunity to exercise their machinery while enjoying some of the best scenery in the Southwest. On April 14, 2007, two car shows united at Tempe Diablo Stadium (home of spring training for the Los Angeles Angels baseball team). The Concorso Arizona, celebrating 60 years of Ferrari, was held in conjunction with the sendoff of the Copperstate 1000 Road Rally. Ferrari Club of America’s Concorso lined the field of the stadium with 120 exotic Italian vehicles. Concorso Arizona is the largest Ferrari gathering in Arizona and is the only IFC/PCA judged event in the state. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo owners were invited from around the country to proudly display their treasures in a “Field of Dreams” setting. Some lesser-known names such as Allard, Kurtis and Frazier-Nash added to the wide-range of cars on display. While the key purpose for many of these car shows is raising money for worthy charities like the Ronald McDonald House and the Phoenix Art Museum, having a good time is also part of the package. Judging was available for any 1997 or older Ferrari, and at the same time the blending of the concours and the Concorso Arizona — Tempe Diablo Stadium Copperstate entries created a new and Concorso Arizona — 1962 Ferrari Spyder CA — Chris Cox exciting visual treat for the hundreds of 1952 212 Ferrari Barchetta — Bill Jacobs spectators who showed up Saturday and 1960 Lotus Type 14 Elite — Jess and Eddie Marker — Copperstate sendoff from stadium 18 • September-October 2007 • ARIZONADRIVER ARIZONADRIVER • September-October 2007 • 19 Sunday morning.

  • Restoration of Ferrari/Pininfarina Legend Using VPCI- NANO® Technology (Vapor Phase Corrosion Inhibitor)!
Editorial Contact: Shannon Garrow [email protected] Cortec® Advertising Agency: (651) 429-1100 Ext. 128 cortec Company Contact: Kären Brasile [email protected] Cortec® Corporation (651) 429-1100 Ext. 152 advertising Attention: Editor March 20, 2014 PRESS RELEASE Restoration of Ferrari/Pininfarina legend using VPCI- NANO® Technology (Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor)! A customer was seeking restoration of his 1984 Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet He wanted to preserve the authenticity during its restoration while eliminating future rust issues. Only the best in their class for corrosion protection products would be acceptable. That is why Cortec products were selected. Photo courtesy of Wikipedia.com The "Mondial" name comes from the renowned 500 Mondial racecar of the early 1950s. Despite its predecessor being designed by Bertone, the Mondial saw Ferrari return to the legendary Pininfarina for styling. It was sold as a mid-sized coupe and, eventually, a cabriolet. Manufactured by Ferrari from 1980 through 1993 the new Cabriolet body style was added in 1983. The introduction of the Cabriolet saw the popularity of the Mondial rise, particularly in the American market, where the convertible body style was highly desirable. The cars status and reputation continued to gain force even into 1992 when that year the movie “Sent Of A Woman” featured Academy of Award winner Al Pacino test-driving this model. The Cabriolet has the added distinction of being the only four-seat, mid-rear engine, convertible automobile ever manufactured in regular production. 629 units were produced between 1983 and 1985. The 1984 Mondial Cabriolet was the first convertible ever powered by the street version of Ferrari’s all aluminum Formula 1 engine Quattrovalvole, having 4 valves per cylinder which provided increased power over any car in its class.
