Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is the name of the capital city (not to be confused with the name of the province which is only “Las Palmas”). It is fa- mous for its Carnival, festivals and other events of gathering and culture; a historical part with build- ings dating back to the Columbine and pre-Col- umbine eras of certain interest. The particular situation of the Canary Islands (an Autonomous Region of Spain), together with the particular conditions and mechanisms of low taxation and a privileged geo- graphical position of strategic importance, means that even today, this region, and Gran Canaria in particular, is in a position to offer and represent important opportunities to those who wish to establish themselves and invest (even to settle permanently) in this particular region within the con- text of the European Union. Relaxation, health and well-being was in fact the first “tourist formula” that gave great popularity to Gran Canaria, thus began, the so-called first steps of the tourism industry. This explains the reason for the fascination that these islands exert on its visitors. In the space of a few kilometers, the scenery changes a lot and thus frequently attracts the attention and appreciation of those who have multiple needs and expectations. The visitor identifies these islands as an “ideal place” to spend their vacations or even long stays; to make real estate investments in order to profit from them and, perhaps, decide to stay part of their lives.
