Position Profile The Executive Director for the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Foundation provides strategic philanthropic leadership to the Board of Trustees. The incumbent will be an experienced leader and strategist who works closely with the University's senior administration, faculty, and staff to implement a comprehensive advancement strategy that positions the University and Foundation to achieve their financial goals. This includes all aspects of charitable giving ensuring the mission and vision of the Board has a strategic connection to the goals of the university. This position serves as the Executive Director to the Board of Directors of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Foundation. Spano Pratt Executive Search www.spanopratt.com 414.283.9533 Responsibilities • Formulates policies and procedures for the Foundation and collaborates closely with the University to effectively implement Board policies and decisions; • Implements an assessment framework to monitor advancement and department performance and supports ongoing professional enrichment training; • Work closely with the Vice Chancellor of University Affairs to ensure that a metrics-informed advancement operation including major and planned gifts, alumni relations, special events, annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, prospect research and donor relations; • Devote at least 80% of time to managing and cultivating a portfolio of major donors; university leadership and volunteers in soliciting charitable contributions from key alumni, friends, corporations and foundations; • Travels frequently in order to build and maintain donor and alumni relationships and represents the Foundation at various events; • Serve as an ex-officio non-voting member of the Foundation Board of Directors to regularly update the Boards on fundraising and membership initiatives, and work collaboratively with the Board Chair , particularly related to matters of gift acceptance, stewardship, and membership drives; • Acts as the pivotal liaison between the Foundation Board and the Vice Chancellor of University Affairs. • As a vital partner in the University’s plan for financial stability works collaboratively with the University advancement staff to assure that donor relationships, fund raising initiatives and related campaigns remain linked to the University’s strategic priorities. • Using communication and collaboration as primary tools build and sustain strong and sincere interpersonal relationships among Board members , the University and the stakeholders who work with the University Professional Experience • The ability to collaborate across a wide range of stakeholders such as university leadership, faculty, and staff across the institution and UW System; • Proven leadership skills and the ability to create a collaborative and results-oriented environment • The ability to develop and execute an aspirational philanthropic vision and strategy and experience implementing and maintaining a culture of accountability through data-driven goals and performance metrics • The ability to set achievable goals, manage long-and short-term strategic planning, and exercise problem-solving • The ability to cultivate relationships with alumni, corporate and community leaders • Proven track record of soliciting and closing major gifts • Knowledge of planned giving and the ability to coach and provide technical expertise on planned giving methods Spano Pratt Executive Search www.spanopratt.com 414.283.9533 • The ability to fund raise across a breadth of programs; including annual, major, campaign, and planned giving and the experience growing a donor base in breadth and depth while also increasing giving and engagement activity • The ability to exercise good judgment, operate with minimal supervision, and resolve issues of policy and practice independently • A high level of integrity and discretion; • A strong work ethic, high energy, and action orientation; • The ability to work successfully in a highly collaborative organization; • A clear commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive community; • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability and commitment to listening and problem-solving; • An approachable and motivational leadership style that promotes mentoring, collaboration, professional development, and innovation.
