Previous meetings • Omonoia's two previous home games against Dutch sides produced big wins. The second of them, 3-0 against ADO Den Haag, helped the Nicosia side win their 2011/12 UEFA Europa League third qualifying round tie (0-1 a), but although the first was even more substantial, 4-0 against Ajax, it was of little consequence as Omonoia had lost the first leg of that 1979/80 European Champion Clubs' Cup second-round tie 10-0 in Amsterdam. • PSV met Cypriot opposition for the first time last season, seeing off Apollon Limassol in the UEFA Europa League play-offs (3-0 h, 4-0 a). The away win, sealed by a Donyell Malen double, was the Eindhoven club's biggest in Europe for seven years. Form guide Omonoia • Omonoia, who led their domestic league when the 2019/20 Cypriot season was halted in March, were awarded a place in this season's UEFA Champions League. Henning Berg's team needed extra time before winning at both Ararat-Armenia (1-0) in the first qualifying round and Legia Warszawa (2-0) in the second, and it took penalties to settle their third qualifying round tie at home to Crvena zvezda (4-2 after a 1-1 draw) before they lost in the play-offs to Olympiacos (0-2 a, 0-0 h). • This is Omonoia's first European campaign for four years and their first in the group stage of any UEFA competition. In their most recent continental campaign they lost on away goals to Beitar Jerusalem in the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League second qualifying round (0-1 a, 3-2 h). • Omonoia are unbeaten in seven home European matches (W4 D3) since a 2-1 loss against Dinamo Moskva in the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League play-offs. PSV • PSV finished fourth in the curtailed 2019/20 Dutch Eredivisie, earning a place in the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round. They won away to both Mura (5-1) and Rosenborg (2-0) to secure an eighth group stage berth. • Last season, having been defeated by Basel on away goals in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round (3-2 h, 1-2 a), PSV advanced into the UEFA Europa League group stage but went no further, eliminated after successive heavy away defeats at LASK (1-4) and Sporting CP (0-4). The 2010/11 quarter-finalists have now failed to progress from their group in four of the last five attempts. • PSV were unbeaten in their first nine away games in the UEFA Europa League group stage (W7 D2), but they have lost six of the 12 since (W4 D2) and have also gone nine games without a victory on the road during the autumn in the UEFA Champions League (D3 L6). Links and trivia • Omonoia boss Berg and PSV's goalkeeping coach Raimond van der Gouw were Manchester United team-mates between 1997 and 2000. • Omonoia forward Fotis Papoulis was in the Apollon side that lost twice to PSV last season. • Tomáš Hubočan had better luck against PSV, Omonoia's Slovakian defender helping Dinamo Moskva claim 1-0 wins home and away against the Dutch side in the 2014/15 UEFA Europa League group stage. • Omonoia's Czech defender Jan Lecjaks and PSV goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo played together in Switzerland for Young Boys between 2011 and 2017. • Omonoia are one of six UEFA Europa League group stage debutants this season alongside CSKA-Sofia (Group A), Leicester City (G), Sivasspor (I), Royal Antwerp (J) and Granada, who are with them in Group E. • PSV are one of six former European Cup winners in this season's UEFA Europa League group stage, along with Benfica (Group D), Celtic and AC Milan (H), Feyenoord (K) and Crvena zvezda (L). They are also one of six former UEFA Cup winners – joining Leverkusen (Group C), Napoli (F), Tottenham (J), CSKA Moskva and Feyenoord (both K). 3 Omonoia FC - PSV Eindhoven Thursday 29 October 2020 - 21.00CET (22.00 local time) Match press kit GSP, Nicosia Team facts AC Omonoia Formed: 1948 Nickname: The Greens, The Clover UEFA club competition honours • None Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 20 (2010) Cypriot Cup: 14 (2012) Ten-year record (UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2019/20: did not take part in UEFA competition 2018/19: did not take part in UEFA competition 2017/18: did not take part in UEFA competition 2016/17: second qualifying round 2015/16: third qualifying round 2014/15: play-offs 2013/14: second qualifying round 2012/13: third qualifying round 2011/12: play-offs 2010/11: play-offs (having transferred from UEFA Champions League third qualifying round) Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 6-1: Omonoia v Differdange 03/10/79, European Champion Clubs' Cup first round second leg 5-0: Omonoia v Rabat Ajax 02/10/85, European Champion Clubs' Cup first round second leg • Biggest away win 0-5: Rabat Ajax v Omonoia 18/09/85, European Champion Clubs' Cup first round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 0-4: Omonoia v Bayern München 26/10/72, European Champion Clubs' Cup second round second leg • Heaviest away defeat 10-0: Ajax v Omonoia 24/10/79, European Champion Clubs' Cup second round first leg UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League Biggest home win 5-1: Omonoia v Linfield 22/07/98, first qualifying round first leg 4-0 twice, most recently v HB Tórshavn 16/07/09, second qualifying round first leg • Biggest away win 1-5: Belshina Bobruisk v Omonoia 12/08/99, qualifying round first leg • Heaviest home defeat 2-5: Omonoia v Juventus 16/09/99, first round first leg • Heaviest away defeat 5-0 twice, most recently v Juventus 30/09/99, first round second leg PSV Eindhoven Formed: 1913 4 Omonoia FC - PSV Eindhoven Thursday 29 October 2020 - 21.00CET (22.00 local time) Match press kit GSP, Nicosia Nickname: Boeren (Farmers) UEFA club competition honours (runners-up in brackets) • European Cup: 1988 • UEFA Cup: 1978 • UEFA Super Cup: (1989) • European/South American Cup: (1988) Domestic honours (most recent triumph in brackets) League title: 24 (2018) Dutch Cup: 9 (2012) Ten-year European record (UEFA Europa League unless indicated otherwise) 2019/20: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League second qualifying round) 2018/19: UEFA Champions League group stage 2017/18: third qualifying round 2016/17: UEFA Champions League group stage 2015/16: UEFA Champions League round of 16 2014/15: round of 32 2013/14: group stage (having transferred from UEFA Champions League play-offs) 2012/13: group stage 2011/12: round of 16 2010/11: quarter-finals Records UEFA club competition • Biggest home win 10-0: PSV v Ards 18/09/74, European Cup Winners' Cup first round first leg • Biggest away win 0-5: Zeta v PSV 23/08/12, UEFA Europa League play-off first leg • Heaviest home defeat 0-4: PSV v Arsenal 25/09/02, UEFA Champions League first group stage • Heaviest away defeat 6-0: St-Étienne v PSV 07/11/79, UEFA Cup second round second leg UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League • Biggest home win 9-0: PSV v Zeta 30/08/12, play-off second leg • Biggest away win 0-5: Zeta v PSV (see above) • Heaviest home defeat 0-2 three times, most recently v Ludogorets 19/09/13, group stage • Heaviest away defeat 6-0: St-Étienne v PSV (see above) 5 Omonoia FC - PSV Eindhoven Thursday 29 October 2020 - 21.00CET (22.00 local time) Match press kit GSP, Nicosia Squad list Omonoia FC Current season All-time UCL UEL League UEL UEFA No.
