The official rate is US$2.00 per hour for access at a public WIFI location. Hotels often sell Internet access cards at a premium, usually US$5.00 per hour for access within their facility. Network congestion and slow speeds characterize Internet use in Cuba. Generally, you can accomplish basic tasks using Cuba’s Internet, but you can forget about downloading the entire HD version of Dr. Zhivago. ETESCA is the Cuban state ISP for the entire country. Temporary access to Cuba’s public Internet is offered through prepaid cards that are not rechargeable. The cards have an active period of 30 calendar days from the first connection. Prepaid cards are in demand by tourists and are marketed in ETESCA’s retail locations and in hotels, airports and tourist locations. It is common to find large numbers of Cubans crowding around the public WIFI locations at night when it is cooler outside. Several luxury and business hotels offer access in rooms. The Hotel Saratoga has the best Internet access we have encountered in Cuba. Here are all the current public WIFI access points in Cuba (excluding private locations like hotels): Havana Cordoba Park, Oct. 10 Ramp (Malecón to the Yara cinema) Matanzas Line Park and L, Vedado Park 15 and 14, Vedado Parque La Libertad Park 51, La Lisa Peñas Altas Park Fe del Valle Park (Galeano and San Rafael) Parque Jose Antonio Echeverria Cardenas Monaco Park, Oct. 10 AIO resort, Varadero Coyula Park, Calle 30 and 19, Beach Rene Fraga Park Park 13 and 76, Beach Convention Center Plaza America Amphitheatre Marianao Craftsmen Cultural Association Central pavilions and 14 EXPOCUBA Centro RestaurantBarCafé Plaza La Vigia José Martí, Santiago de Las Vegas Park Performing Arts Center Parque Santa Amalia, Arroyo Naranjo Columbus Boulevard José Martí, San Miguel del Padron Park Jaguey Grande Park Viondi park, Guanabacoa Parque Las Madres, Rule Cienfuegos Paseo de la Villa Panamericana Hanoi park, Alamar Martí park Cultural Center, Alamar Fast Punta Gorda April 9 Zoo, Cotorro Villuendas park Estadio Latinoamericano Park, Cerro Park Township Cruces Balneario Universitario 1st and 42, Beach Prado Passenger Aguada Calabazar Park, Boyeros Boulevard de Cumanayagua Parque de Santa María del Rosario, Cotorro Imago park Park Campo Florido. It challenges the notion of a “great divide” between Republic and Revolution by tracing contentious interactions between technocrats, politicians, and financial elites on one hand, and mobilized, mostly-Afro-descended tenants and shantytown residents on the other hand. The dynamics of housing inequality in Havana not only reflected existing socio- racial hierarchies but also produced and reconfigured them in ways that have not been systematically researched.

Through an extensive review of information on Cuban herpetofauna, including protected area management plans, we present the first comprehensive inventory of introduced amphibians and reptiles in the Cuban archipelago. We classify species as Invasive, Established Non-invasive, Not Established, and Transported. We document the arrival of 26 species, five amphibians and 21 reptiles, in more than 35 different introduction events. Of the 26 species, we identify 11 species (42.3%), one amphibian and 10 reptiles, as established, with nine of them being invasive: Lithobates catesbeianus, Caiman crocodilus, Hemidactylus mabouia, H. angulatus, H. frenatus, Gonatodes albogularis, Sphaerodactylus argus, Gymnophthalmus underwoodi, and Indotyphlops braminus. We present the introduced range of each of the 26 species in the Cuban archipelago as well as the other Caribbean islands and document historical records, the population sources, dispersal pathways, introduction events, current status of distribution, and impacts.

INTERNAL MIGRATION IN HAVANA SUMMARY Before the Revolution, internal migration was mainly oriented towards the capital city. At that time, Havana represented already around 20% of the total po- pulation with an increasing trend. With the victory of the Revolution in 1958, internal migratory movements took place which disrupted the traditional pattern and that responded mainly to the agrarian reform laws. How- ever, internal migration was not considered as the sub- ject of an explicit policy until the -party congresses of 1975 and 1980 defined policy obgctives for migration and geographic population distribution, implying the orientation of migratory flows towards regions of priori- ty development.
