04- Sosyal Bil.Enst.Ing GRADUATE SCHOOL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES Social Sciences Institute was established in 1982-1983 education year. The Institute has more than twenty programmes of masters or doctorates. The main aim of the Social Sciences Institute is to organize and administrate Masters and Doctorate programmes in related science and art branches. The Institute also aims to educate research assistances and young employees of the private sector to contribute their human resources. By the non-thesis evening MBA programme, the Institute tries to reach that aim. In Addition, from 1999 in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus; from 2003, with collaboration of University of Cologne, the Institute starts two non-thesis MBA programmes in Cyprus and Cologne. Anadolu University is one of the few universities in Turkey, which was doctorate programs. The Department was founded in order to supply the demand for animation artists in the visual communication sector. By the developments of the new computer technologies, the art of animation is transformed into computerized production process and expanded its visual vocabularies. The art of animation is indeed by far the most free ranging among all branches of art, developing areas of vision and experience. Today, the most important development for the animation artist is to find himself in a place as “a profession” in the rapidly changing community. Animation department not only gives the education but also undertakes the responsibility of upholding the social and economic organizations in the animation sector. At the end of four years of animation education, students learn film language, film, video, animation and multimedia techniques. The department aims to prepare students as artists capable in both conceptual and technical areas of art of animation. Graduates can be researchers in the area and work in video, animation, multimedia companies, advertising agencies and television sectors. Program Head : Assoc. The Faculty started with the Departments of History, Sociology, Art History and Classical Archaeology. It has extern and intern students for the first two years. The Department of Art History and Department of Archaeology were divided into two separate departments in the academic year of 1998-1999. The Department of Turkish Language and Literature was founded in 1999-2000 and students of the department must attend a one-year-English prep school. The objective of the Faculty is to train competent experts in their fields as well as to educate them in terms of local and universal cultural values in a scientific framework. Monumental tombs reflect various social, cultural, architectural, religious, economic, and engineering features of a community. However, environmental weathering, natural disasters, poor maintenance, vandalism, and misuse unfortunately pose serious threats to these cultural assets. Historic monuments are often exposed to the highest risk due to their vulnerability. The Ottoman- style Nis¸ancı Hamza Pas¸a tomb located in Karacaahmet Cemetery, Istanbul, the largest and oldest public cemetery in Turkey, is a case in point. The tomb consisting of six granite columns and a brick dome supported by six arches was constructed in 1605. Cracks, material loss, and decay as a result of adverse environmental effects and past earthquakes are evident. Therefore, this paper analyses the overall value of the tomb with respect to its historical, communal, evidential, and aesthetic aspects. Using the finite element approach and data on the tomb’s material properties, a structural analysis under the self-weight and a time history analysis based on the earthquake ground motion data recorded in Duzce, Turkey, in November 1999 were conducted to encourage the conservation of this tomb and similar cultural heritage assets all over the world.

    The Right to Freedom of Belief in Turkey Monitoring report July 2014 – June 2015 Norveç Helsinki Komitesi İnanç Özgürlüğü Girişimi Preface The Freedom of Belief Initiative’s activities on monitoring and reporting on the right to freedom of thought, religion and belief are organized as a project of the Norwegian Helsinki Committee (NHC). The Norwegian Foreign Ministry is the principal sponsor of the project. The NHC is an Oslo-based non-governmental organization established in 1977 to ensure that international human rights laws are respected in practice. It achieves this goal through moni- toring, reporting, teaching and democracy support. NHC bases its work on international human rights instruments adopted by the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). It has projects in a variety of countries, including in the Russian Federation, a range of East European countries, and Central Asia. The Freedom of Belief Initiative was launched in September 2011 with the aim of monitoring issues related to freedom of thought, religion or belief in Turkey, and to make legal standards and monitoring reports related to such topics accessible to all stakeholders. In this regard, it has presented reports on the protection of the freedom of thought, religion, and belief in Turkey in the framework of the Universal Periodic Review of the UN Human Rights Council and the UN Human Rights Committee. Since March 2013, it has continued its activities with the support of the Norwegian Helsinki Committee, establishing the Right to the Freedom of Belief Monitoring Project, which encom- passes both monitoring, reporting and advocacy activities.

He composed new works by adhering to the song tradition that started with Haji Arif Bey and took his place among the leading composers of his time as the owner of a clean style in music. Among his works numbered close to fifty both in secular and religious forms, only thirty of them have survived to the present day. Hafiz Yusuf Efendi, who was also a music teacher, taught music lessons to princes and raised many students. He was also the teacher of important Turkish music composers like Lemi Atlı and Münir Nurettin Selçuk. He produced a number of works mostly in the genre of ”song“ and a small number in the ”medhiye“, ”ilahi (mystic poems that emphasize praise for God)“ and ”anthem“ genres. The main topic of this article is to examine four different works selected from Hafiz Yusuf’s works in the forms of “songs”, “duaname”, “ilahi” and “anthem” in terms of geçki (modulation; a change of mode) and makam (maqam). With this work, it is aimed to disseminate research on the understanding of using techniques and makams used by Yusuf Efendi, one of the greatest composer of the twentieth century.

    ACTA VIA SERICA Vol. 3, No. 2, December 2018: 135–150 doi:10.22679/avs.2018.3.2.007 Ali Bey Hüseyinzade and His Impact on National Thought in Turkey and the Caucasus UMUT UZER Ali Bey Hüseyinzade (1864-1940) was one of the most significant Azerbaijani Turkish intellectuals in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, formulating Azerbaijani national identity around its Turkish, Islamic and territorial dimensions. His solution to the ambiguities of the identity crisis among the Turkic-Muslim people of Azerbaijan was Turkification, Islamization and Europeanization for the Turkic and Muslim peoples of the Caucasus and Ottoman Turkey. Ali Bey Hüseyinzade1 was an influential Azerbaijani Turkish intellectual who had a direct impact on Turkish nationalists in the late Ottoman Empire and early Republican Turkey. Hüseyinzade’s formulation of the triple processes of Turkification, Islamization and Europeanization spread among the Azerbaijani and Ottoman Turkish intellectuals in their respective countries. This article aims to discuss the ideas of Ali Bey Hüseyinzade, especially regarding nationality, religion and Westernism and their impact on intellectuals and policy makers in the Caucasus and Turkey. His physical odyssey from Tsarist Russia into the Ottoman Empire is indicative of his ideological proclivities and his subsequent influence on the Turkish-speaking peoples in the two major empires in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
