Concrete, Bulletproof, Invisible + Fried: My Life as a Revolting Cock by Chris Connelly. When hardcore industrial rocker and Ministry supremo Al Jourgensen recruited Chris Connelly as a singer for the Revolting Cocks, the young Scottish lad could hardly have imagined the mayhem that was about to ensue. As an integral part of Jourgensens Mad Max-like mutant family of musicians, Connelly joined a drug-crazed travelling circus. Live shows were transformed into an ear-splitting redneck disco from hell, under the influence of a mind-boggling cocktail of every conceivable narcotic, with sleazy strippers and even reports of live cattle on stage. As well as Jourgensen and all the Wax Trax crew, the book features cameo appearances by Ogre of Skinny Puppy, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Killing Joke, Jah Wobble, and Cabaret Voltaire. Despite the unrelenting chaos, both Ministry and the Revolting Cocks have been immensely successful; Connelly appeared on two US gold albums (The Land of Rape and Honey and The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste) and worked as songwriter on the million-plus selling platinum album Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs. Connellys superbly written, funny, irreverent, and sometimes downright scary memoir is one of the finest portrayals of a man trapped in the eye of a post-punk industrial storm this side of Armageddon. Chris Connelly was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and now lives in Chicago where he has pursued a successful solo career. Jehovah's Witnesses - A chat with Christopher Spry :) Mother torture. They were made to sleep in a barn, endured vicious beatings and forced to eat cat food and vomit as children. Victoria Evans, Christopher Spry and Alloma Gilbert suffered 19 years of abuse during a campaign of terror at the hands of the woman they called their adoptive mother, Eunice Spry. Victoria, now 28, was only two when Spry began her beatings at their farm house near Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. She was caught pulling labels off some tinned food when Spry lost her temper and forced her to eat the contents of the can as punishment it was cat food. But Christopher endured the worst beating at the tender age of 10 when Spry tied his feet to her van and sped off across a recently ploughed field. SUSPICIOUS PACKAGE. Eunice Spry, now 70, was originally jailed for 14 years in lowered to 12 years on appeal after she was convicted of 26 charges of disgusting child abuse against her two foster children and an adopted daughter. During her reign of terror, Spry forced the children to drink bleach and urine, eat their own vomit, eat rat excrement, stand naked and cold for hours on end and even sandpapered the skin from the face and hands of one terrified child. Spry confined one girl to a wheelchair for three years after a car crash in a cynical bid to maximise compensation for the accident. Unrepentant Spry has shown no remorse for her crimes and refuses to admit she carried out the heinous acts. Please remember to sign this petition. We need to support the survivors of this abuse in their final quest for justice and allow them to live a life free from fear or harm. Any contact or sighting from Spry could have a serious detrimental effect upon each victim's emotional well being. WHEN doctors examined year-old Chris Spry's jaw, they were horrified to find the tip of a steak knife lodged there that his evil foster mother had rammed down his throat when he was a child. She even put a hot poker down there. Chris, who was fostered by Spry at three, is still battling with the mental and physical damage caused by her abuse, living with constant pain, walking with a limp and needing several operations on scars that have turned cancerous. She was just evil. Pure evil. Born in Cheltenham, Chris was taken from parents who neglected him at the age of three and placed in care with Eunice at her Gloucestershire home. News Corp is a network of leading companies in the worlds of diversified media, news, education, and information services. Victoria Evans, 28, is worried her evil adoptive mum Eunice Spry, 70, will track her down and ruin her life again. Spry was jailed for 14 years reduced to 12 on appeal in for abusing Victoria and two other children. She had sticks forced down her throat and her face scratched with sandpaper. Victoria was adopted at 18 months old after her birth parents could no longer look after her. Connelly was born in Bruntsfield, Scotland to Michael and Sadie (née King) Connelly near the city centre of Edinburgh. Connelly's father died in a swimming accident early in his life, [4] causing Chris to focus on artistic interests outside the home to help fill the void. Connelly's Scottish ancestry includes Irish descent through the Connellys and Murphys, who originally came from Ireland to Scotland. His mother’s side, the Kings and the McCullochs, were from the Highlands and migrated to Glasgow in search of work. [5] Music career. Connelly began his music career in 1980 with the formation of Finitribe. [6] Through subsequent years he fronted or was heavily involved with numerous notable industrial, dance, and new wave acts. In 2008, Connelly published a memoir of his early years in the music industry, Concrete, Bulletproof, Invisible, and Fried: My Life As A Revolting Cock ( ISBN 0946719950). It describes his professional debut in Finitribe, meeting Al Jourgensen in London, his involvement with the Revolting Cocks, Ministry, PTP, Acid Horse, Murder, Inc., and Pigface, and the development of his solo career. In contrast to his industrial roots, Connelly explores various genres in his solo works. In 2013, he has started two projects more in the vein of industrial: Cocksure, with Jason C. Novak (Czar, Acumen Nation, and DJ? Acucrack), and Bells into Machines, with Paul Barker (Ministry, Revolting Cocks, and Lard), as well as the res-erection of the mighty Cocks sans Al Jourgensen and with Richard 23 of Front 242 in 2016. Personal life. Connelly is now based in Chicago and manages Reckless Records, a record store in Wicker Park. [7] He also is a vocal instructor at Oak Park School of Rock. [8] Band affiliations.
