The most primitive digenea, therefore, most have confined their parasitism theoretically to invertebrate hosts until the advent of vertebrates, in the simplest life cycle pattern, i. e. one host-cycle. As a matter of fact this simplest pattern is represented by pathogenesis. As the forerunners of the vertebrates arrived the trematode parasites found their lodging in the newcomers and further intruded into higher vertebrate groups. From the reasoning the evolutionary steps of the Digenea, though lagging, should conform to those of host animals. Amphibians, when are examined, yield a good number of trematode parasites, which are endoparasites, causes no harm to their host but mutually inhabiting with symbiotic effect. Several Trematodes from amphibian host recorded so far from India. Present study deals with 118 species under 26 genera and under 12 families. SYSTEMATIC INDEX 1.
