The cinema, that “dream factory” takes over and employs countless mythical motifs – the fight between hero and monster, initiatory combats and ordeals, paradigmatic figures and images (the maiden, the hero, the paradisiacal landscape, hell and do on). Even reading includes a mythological function, only because it replaces the recitation of myths in archaic societies and the oral literature that still lives in the rural communities of Europe, but particularly because, through reading, the modern man succeeds in obtaining an ‘escape from time’ comparable to the ‘emergence from time’ effected by myths. -

Kratka Povjesnica Srba Od Postanja Srpstva Do Danas
Kratka povjesnica Srba od postanja srpstva do danas Napisao Sima Lukin Lazić (Vrač Pogađač) Izdanje piščevo ZAGREB ŠTAMPARIJA KARLA ALBREHTA 1894 Riječ dvije. -

Will They Still Be Dancing?
WILL THEY STILL BE DANCING? INTEGRATION AND ETHNIC TRANSFORMATION AMONG YUGOSLAV IMMIGRANTS IN SCANDINAVIA By Carl-Ulrik Schierup and Aleksandra Alund Department of Sociology University of Umea Sweden 1986 "Collective dancing or singing, particularly spectacular cases of the synchro nization of the homogeneous and the orchestration of the heterogenous, are everywhere predisposed to symbolize group integration and, by symbolizing it, to strengthen it" Pierre Bourdieu' Front Cover: Wallachian chain-dance in a Danish provincial town © 1987 Carl-Ulrik Schierup and Alexandra Alund Printed in Sweden by Graphic Systems AB Giitehorg, 1987 ISBN 9122-00836-5 ACKNOWLEDGMENTS Indulged with sociological self-centeredness we have reduced vampires to mechanisms of social cohesion. Hence,we have questioned a culture, seeing vampires as what they are, the dead ones haunting the living. Ifour interpreta tions have shown contempt towards vampires, we apologize for our mundane limitations, and thank them for the inspiration. We also thank all those living beings who have helped us through our voyage through the past and present. We give special thoughts to Baba Mitra, Baba Inda, and other great Wallachian mothers, who have received us with hospitality and endured our incessant questioning. For their excellent cooperation: Miroslav Panojevic, Ljubce Muncanovic, Stale Zulumovski, Nada and Aleksandar Serafimovski and many others in Denmarkand Sweden. Special thanks also to Steven Sampson and Michel Vale for their great patience and meticulous scrutinizing of our English. Steven Sampson, Lasse Petterson, Billy Ehn, Ole H\'Siris, Georg Karlsson, Rune Aberg and Christian Horst have read and criticized the manuscript and helped us with valuable suggestions. Finally, for their generous financial support we thank the following organiza tions: The Swedish Council for Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences, The Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation, The Danish Social Science Research Council and the Danish International Development Agency. -

It is most commonly a barge or chariot. Depictions of solar barges date to the Neolithic and are older than the sun chariot. Examples include the solar barge of Ra (Egyptian) and the chariots of Apollo (Greek) and Surya (Hindu). A world tree is an AXIS MUNDI. Typically its roots reach the UNDERWORLD (represented as either earth or water) and its branches (inhabited by birds) the OVERWORLD in order to connect them to each other and to the phenomenal world. -

Looking North of the Greek World: the Slavic Folk Poetry of the Balkans
Curriculum Units by Fellows of the Yale-New Haven Teachers Institute 1984 Volume II: Greek Civilization Looking North Of The Greek World: The Slavic Folk Poetry of The Balkans Curriculum Unit 84.02.01 by Henry J. Brajkovic A student might say, referring to the Iliad and the Odyssey; “That kind of stuff they did then, nobody does it anymore!” This paper is written to refute such a thought. Another student might wonder: “Where could we find plain folks making up poems?” Another might quip: “As to reciting them, forget it!” Yet, are there today any tribes or nations that have such a tradition? Where could we find an uninterrupted living tradition of uneducated people or persons with only an elementary education creating their own folk poetry? The answer is: in divided Macedonia. Most of Macedonia is located in the southernmost part of Yugoslavia. The remaining parts of Macedonia are in northern Greece, Bulgaria and Albania. The material in this paper could be used for the study of geography, ancient or medieval history, folk poetry, story-telling, or for a study about heroes. Therefore, it is usable in all grades and on all levels. Objectives Can one say that the spirit of creativity lives within each nation? Can one say that “ordinary” folks (distinguished from literary, educated writers and poets) make poetry that many accept? What is one to say about the lyrics of popular songs, for example, in the “standard” pop tunes, early rock, bluegrass and “urban” folk tunes, protest songs, etc. There seems to be a spirit at work among the people seeking an outlet through song. -
Date De Contact Ale Autorului
