Etappe 1 Auftakt zur Nördlinger Hütte Über das Schartlehnerhaus führt die erste Etappe unserer Durchquerung auf dem Karwendel Höhenweg Seefeld in Tirol von Reith bei Seefeld auf die Nördlinger Hütte. Man folgt dem Panoramaweg bis man Richtung Norden auf den Steig 211 abbiegt. Kurze Zeit später zweigt BS 02/19 (S.26) dieser rechts ab und führt in Serpentinen zum Schartleh- nerhaus (1856 m). Dort angelangt führt der Steig über den Latschenrücken des sogenannten »Schoaßgrates« anfangs in Serpentinen, anschließend weniger kurvig, das letzte Stück hinauf zur Nördlinger Hütte (2238 m). Stefan Moll Foto: Dominik Prantl Foto: Auf der Nördlinger Hütte verbringen wir die erste Nacht. Karwendel Karwendel-Durchquerung: 2. Etappe gehen. Obwohl die Felsabschnitte mit Seilen versichert sind, ist hier absolute Schwindelfreiheit und Trittsicherheit er- forderlich. Durch Schluchten und Schrofen geht es meist am Grat entlang über die Freiungspitzen (2332 m) bis unterhalb BS 02/19 (S. 26) des Erlturms und schließlich auf dem Steig Nr. 211 hinunter zum Solsteinhaus. Vor dem Abstieg zum Solsteinhaus kann unschwierig noch der Gipfel der Kuhlochspitze (2297 m) mitgenommen werden. Persönliche Empfehlung: Den Freiungen Höhenweg kann man ab dem Ursprungsattel auch umgehen. Dazu hält man sich hier nicht Richtung Freiungstürme, sondern folgt dem nach Nordosten absteigenden Weg. Am Breiten Sattel (1794 m) zweigt man nach rechts auf Steig 74 zur Eppzirler Scharte ab. Nachdem man das große Geröllfeld des Kuhljochs durchquert und wenige Serpentinen Anstieg hinter sich gebracht hat, erreicht man die Eppzirler Scharte (2102 m). Ab hier steigt man etwa 200 Höhenmeter das mit Kalkschotter gefüllte Höllkar hinab. Etappe -Sattel, der sich westlich der markanten Felsnadel der Frau Hitt befindet. Vom Sattel geht es zunächst hinunter zur See- grube und anschließend wieder hinauf zum Hafelekarhaus (2269 m). Im Anschluss, südlich unterhalb der Hafelekar- BS 02/19 (S.26) spitze, verläuft nun der Goetheweg (219) zur Pfeishütte. Zunächst folgt man dem Pfad und gelangt ohne größere Hö- henunterschiede über das Gleirschjöchl zur Mühlkarscharte. Währenddessen genießt man atemberaubende Ausblicke auf Innsbruck und ins Inntal. Ab der Mühlkarscharte wechselt der Weg auf die Nordseite der Nordkette und beschert einem weite Blicke ins schroffe Karwendelgebirge. Der Weg führt in Serpentinen auf die Mandlscharte (2277 m) und von dort aus hinunter in die Pfeis. Nach einem letzten Stück durch viele Latschen erreicht man die Pfeishütte. Wissenswertes: Rund um die Pfeishütte lebt die größte Schneehuhn-Population des Karwendel.
