In 1972, he drove a Mercedes-Benz 250SE with Jack Cowell and Pete Brock coast-to-coast in the initial Cannonball Baker Sea-to -Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash. Dressed as priests, the “Flying Fathers” still managed to garner several speeding tickets while finishing third. In 1997, Tullius moved to Sebring where, as mentioned previously, he shifted his attention to aviation. He still flies a lot, usually in the Beech King Air around Florida or down into the Caribbean. Several other former Group 44 cars survive elsewhere, including the GT6+ recently restored and run by Classic Motorsports magazine. However, Tullius has noted there seem to be more Group 44 cars around now than he and his team actually built and raced. Funny how that happens with legendary teams and equally legendary drivers.
