Parramatta Light Rail 2 Welcome to the PLR Subcontractors’ Forum

The purpose of this morning’s event is to:

• introduce current subcontracting and supply opportunities on the Parramatta Light Rail (PLR) project

• advise how local businesses can access these opportunities through the Industry Capability Network (ICN)

There will be a short Q&A at the end of the presentations.

Parramatta Light Rail 5 What is the PLR project? The $2.4 billion Parramatta Light Rail project will construct:

• 12 kilometres of new two-way light rail track between Westmead and Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD • 16 new stops with platforms, canopies and seating • New and modified bridges • New wiring, signalling, traction works and technology systems • A stabling and maintenance facility (SaMF) at Camellia.

Parramatta Light Rail 6 Customer benefits • 16 accessible stops located within existing and new precincts • Special services for events at Bankwest Stadium and Rosehill Gardens Racecourse • tap on/off facilities • Interchanges with heavy rail, bus and ferry, and future Metro West • Services 7 days a week from 5am until 1am the following morning • Services around every 7.5 minutes in peak (7am-7pm) • 45m long air-conditioned vehicles, capacity for 300 passengers • Improvements to road, active transport and bus network

• Construct the light rail track, roadworks, new and modified bridges, stop platforms to slab, transport interchanges at Westmead, Parramatta CBD and Carlingford.

• We will continue to engage and inform residents and businesses along the alignment to ensure impacts from construction works are identified and minimised.

Parramatta Light Rail 13 Requirements for workers

The following experienced workers will be required: • Trades assistants • Labourers • Steel fixers • Pipelayers • Track builders • Concreters

To be eligible to work on the project, all individuals will be required to complete White Card Construction Induction and Rail Industry Worker Training.

Businesses will be required to complete a pre-qualification questionnaire as part of the Expression of Interest registration.

• Parramatta Connect has partnered with Training Services NSW to deliver an Infrastructure Skills Legacy Program (ISLP), with a commitment to boost the number of skilled construction workers and create fresh pathways to employment across the state.

• We have minimum training targets to meet and request all our subcontractors to support us in driving the achievement of these targets.

• ISLP is a skills development program, led by Training Services NSW. • The program supports the Premier’s priorities to grow skills and jobs, capitalising on the $93 billion infrastructure investment in NSW.

• 20% of the total labour force to be made up of ‘learning workers’ (defined as trainees and workers who need to update their qualifications to meet the needs of the infrastructure project). • 20% of all trades positions comprised of apprentices. • 1.5% of the total contract value to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation. • 8% of the total project workforce aged less than 25 years. • Strategies to ensure we employ and train people from the local region. • 1.5% of contract value spent supporting Aboriginal participation.

• Aim: To make it easier for buyers to find suppliers & vice versa

• Offices in and regional NSW (Hunter, Dubbo, Nowra and Riverina)

• Part of national network
