New Orleans came to Sanibel on Monday evening, Feb. 26 when the J. Howard Wood Theatre became New Orleans for the evening and celebrat- ed Mardi Gras. Moore than 300 the- atre supporters turned out in their fin- ery and creative attire to celebrate, have a few refreshments and conduct a silent auction to raise funds for the theater. Melissa Hamilton, publicity direc- tor for the theater said, "We were thrilled with the turnout and the sup- port." The event raised in excess of $50,000 for the theater, she added.
