At that time it founded by Vít Švec, along with Mexican pianist Mark Aanderud and drummer Pavel Razím, and theirs first called “Trio 02” was created. On the second, highly prized album “Keporkak” (both ARTA Records), the new members, pianist Matej Benko and drummer Jan Linhart participated. Successful sales of both titles in Japan helped the trio performance in Tokyo, Yokohama and Nagoya in 2007, after which Matej Benko was replaced by Jiří Růžička. 17.30 – 18.40 AghaRTA GANG feat. ŠTĚPÁN MARKOVIČ Štěpán Markovič – , Boris Urbánek – keyboards, Vít Švec – double bass, Michal Hejna – drums www.agharta.cz/aghagang1.pdf Random musical reunion of old friends in 2007 gave reason to the formation of a band that regularly performs predominantly in the AghaRTA jazz club. From Ostrava travels keyboardist Boris Urbanek, a distinctive personality of Moravian jazz, the initiator of the band, drummer Michael flocks played for the first time already in 1982 in his Jazz Laboratory. In the same year, Michal Hejna met with Štěpán Markovič in the very famous group, ESP, and in big band, Transjazz, with a fellow conservatory student Vítek Švec. In 2009, a recording called “There Is Hope” (ARTA Records) was done. There are songs from the days of Jazz Laboratory, Urbánek´s tune “The Golden Sunday” and “Hedgehog In The Cage” by Jaroslav Šimíček among others. 19.00 – 20.10 JAZZ EFTERRÄTT Lukáš Chejn – , Martin Plachý – saxophone, Jan Veverka – trombone, Petr Beneš – keyboards, Tomáš Uhlík – bass, Ondřej Pomajsl – drums www.jazzef.com The guitarist Lukáš Chejn clearly believes in understatement, describing himself on his website with the words ‘I was and I am’. His band of otherwise merry musicians was given a blast of fresh air with the arrival of a new drummer, Ondřej Pomajsl. 20.30 – 21.40 PETR KROUTIL ORCHESTRA Petr Kroutil – saxophone, vocal, guitar, Boris Urbánek – keyboards, Vít Švec – double bass, Michal Hejna – drums, Imran Zangi – percussion www.petrkroutil.cz The group was founded around charismatic frontman, actor, sax player and singer Petr Kroutil. The success of TV series he perform in allowed him to go to USA, where he studied at Berklee College of . Later he soaked up musical impulses in Nepal. Since 2011 Kroutil regularly plays in Agharta with great reactions. His programme is sparkling combination of swing, smooth jazz, rock, pop and . The show offering not only good music but also inteligent and spontaneous humor is absolutely unique in Bohemia. Sunday, July 4 16.00 – 17.10 JAROSLAV ŠIMÍČEK QUARTET Jaroslav Šimíček – double bass, Vít Pospíšil – piano, Radek Zapadlo – saxophone, Petr Mikeš – drums www.jareksimicek.net Bassist and composer Jaroslav Šimíček put together a quartet of distinctive musicians for his modern jazz compositions on the album “The Way Home” (ARTA Records). Šimíček is also a member of numerous Prague bands devoted mainly to more traditional jazz – Petr Kroutil, Petra Ernyei, Olga Škrancová and Dana Šimíčková (Shadde Yadda Quartet). 17.30 – 18.40 AghaRTA BAND feat. ADAM TVRDÝ Adam Tvrdý – guitar, Ondřej Kabrna – piano, Zdeněk Tichota – bass, Michal Hejna – drums www.adamtvrdy.com Adam Tvrdý, guitarist and composer, has an expressive multi-genre output. In his interpretations and he follows his own creative ideas first of all and, at the same time, he respects traditions and language of the musical style. It is a modern jazz with , rock, and classical music inspirations. All this you can hear on his debut album “Doublewell” (ARTA Records). In addition to his own trio Adam performs with many other groups. One of them is AghaRTA Band. 19.00 – 20.10 JAN ŠTOLBA QUARTET Jan Štolba – saxophone, Viktor Jerman – guitar, Antonín Šturma – double bass, Per Mikeš – drums www.jan-stolba.eu Czech poet, prose writer and literary critic Jan Štolba is also a jazz musician and composer who has travelled the entire world working with a large number of musicians. His compositions, stylistically ranging from energetic post-bop to meditative ballads, nostalgic “Eastern European” Latin, twelve-tone and somnambulic -swing, are the foundation of his quartet’s repertoire. His last album “Keep on Walking” (ARTA Records) exclusively features this original repertoire. 20.30 – 21.40 ONDŘEJ KABRNA LATIN BAND feat. BARBORA ŘEHÁČKOVÁ Barbora Řeháčková – vocal, Ondřej Kabrna – piano, accordion, Zdeněk Tichota – bass, Michal Hejna – drums, Imran Musa Zangi – percussion www.ondrejkabrna. com www.barboraswinx.com Ondřej Kabrna is probably the most universal, the most sensitive and busiest Czech jazz pianist today. It seamlessly handles any styles of jazz, among other things, was a finalist for the best bar pianist, finishing completely incomprehensible to the other.
