GDANSK, POLAND Disembark: 0800 Friday, 5 September Onboard: 1100 Sunday, 7 September Brief Overview: This polish city, which was a major player in 20th century historical events, including its roles during World War II, is a seaside city with much to explore. Wandering down the cobbled streets of Main Town will take you through a plethora of charming cafés and museums. Explore the city easily by foot, or opt to take a boat cruise to catch the maritime history of the city. The scars of this city’s rough history can be explored through the numerous museums. Immerse yourself in the Polish struggle against communist rule with a visit to the Roads to Freedom Exhibition, or take a walk down the Royal Way, the route in which Polish Kings traditionally paraded during visits. Take in the grandeur of St. Mary’s Church in the heart of Old Town, which is the largest old brick church in the world. Take in the sobering history of the Holocaust at Stutthoff or Auschwitz concentration camps. Travel 3 hours inland to the capital city of Warsaw, a culture-packed place with much to do and see.
