Communications report from the Energy and Clean Growth in the Northern Powerhouse conference and exhibition: We had a large spread of media engagement when we launched the conference in July. The other LEPs shared our release in newsletters and on their websites. Our initial release was picked up in Post, Insider Media, Hull Live etc: https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/business/hull-set-to-host-thousands-with-clean-energy- conference-1-9853075 https://www.insidermedia.com/news/yorkshire/hull-to-host-flagship-northern-energy- conference https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/hull-chiefs-play-leading-role- 3082523 Once the conference was confirmed as a two-day event, we then undertook a social media campaign on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, both through the Humber LEP and the @NPengeryconf, which the other NP11 LEPs and the new NP11 account also engaged with. We organised further coverage through the other LEPs on conference calls and regular emails. We also paid for online media, in a partnership with the Reach brand, publishing stories on Liverpool Live, Tees Live, Hull Live, Grimsby Live, North East Live, and the Evening Post to ensure coverage was balanced across the North’s main cities. Here is an example: https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/special- features/manchester-hull-politics-business-conference-16980266 We also created a Google Ad campaign to drive up visits to the website. Connect PA had their own media plan to drive engagement which also included purchasing email addresses for potential delegate and they delivered a long-term email marketing campaign. The Humber LEP supported this through our own newsletters and updates. We also appointed Hull Live and Grimsby Live as media partners for the event, who regularly shared stories to drive up attendance such as: https://www.business-live.co.uk/economic-development/dear-boris-johnson-you-need- 16806907 https://www.business-live.co.uk/economic-development/bbc-energy-expert-roger-harrabin- 17128582 In the run up to the event itself we also released news such as https://investhull.co.uk/latest- news/humber-to-host-a-ground-breaking-energy-conference to drive up attendance and invited journalists to attend the event. Finally, before the conference, we created a release based on the KPMG report being released at the conference on Tuesday, which was picked up widely – even appearing on the front page of . Live coverage of the event: BBC Radio Humberside and Viking FM reported live from the event and pre-recorded an interview from Lord Haksins and Beverley FM also recorded interviews with Kishor Tailor and several of the sponsors at the event. Journalists from Business Live, and This is Hull also attended and reported from the event. We also had front pages in the Yorkshire Post and Hull Daily Mail:

Social media: We had more than 20,000 Tweet impressions on the second day of the conference and 18,500 on the first day of the Conference – just from the Humber LEP account. W/c 4th Nov we had 50,000 Twitter impressions overall. – Unprecedented form our social media and all extremely positive for the Humber LEP’s identity. Social media feedback has been fantastic and we had 72 new followers on Twitter and around 35 new followers on LinkedIn from the conference – which also built the following week.

Feedback from social media was overwhelmingly positive and have included a selection of posts below to demonstrate.
