Connecticut Section PGA Employment Opportunity Associate Operations Manager – Keney Park

The Connecticut Section PGA is one of 41 sections chartered that together comprise the Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA of America). All of the state of Connecticut – with the exception of territory south and west of a line between the cities of Danbury and Bridgeport, and the western half of the state of Massachusetts, except for a small northwestern corner of the state-are the boundaries for the section. The section membership consists of 340 PGA Members and Associate Professionals.

JOB TITLE: Associate Golf Operations Manager

LOCATION: Keney Park Golf Course, Hartford, CT | TYPE: Full-time with benefits | ANTICIPATED START DATE: ASAP

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Connecticut Section PGA is seeking an individual to be responsible for assisting in the golf operations oversight and management at the City of Hartford’s Keney Park Golf Course for the 2020 season.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with the daily golf operation including promotion of the golf course to stimulate rounds and revenue through daily play; and development and management of staff to ensure strong and consistent customer service levels and smooth daily operations. This position will work closely with and under the guidance of the Chief Golf Operations Manager.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Associate Golf Operations Manager duties include but are not limited to:

• Supervision of staff to include: Prioritizing and assigning work; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; and maintaining a healthy and safe working environment. • Ensures outstanding service by providing a friendly and inviting environment for customers. • Assist in managing all tournaments/outings and the administration of the World System. • Manages the Keney Park Golf Course website and social media platforms. • Oversees the implementation of the mobile Point of Sale system • Provides general customer service and communicates with the public regarding fees, policies, rules and general information about the facility or event. • Promote Keney Park GC in the community to include assisting with advertising and promotional campaigns.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

• Ability to work variable hours to include weekends • Class A PGA, LPGA, or PGA Associate status preferred. • Minimum of two (2) years applicable assistant managment experience, emphasis in municipal or daily fee golf course operations preferred. • Demonstrated written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including evenings/weekends. • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations. • Create and maintain a positive and customer friendly environment that encourages the lifelong sport of golf. • Oral and written communication, sufficient to exchange or convey effective information and to give/receive work direction. • Operate modern office equipment, software and operating systems/applications. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Annual salary $35-$40,000. The Section will provide individual health insurance (after one month); allowance for tournament entry fees; meal allowance; and paid PGA dues.
