Today, we’d like to see the title of ”Jehoash’s Partial Obedience” in the book of 2 Kings 13:1-25

To Online Word’s people, through MP3 or YouTube Channel, on the earth, we’d like to suggest 3 Questions. (verse by verse – over 70% His words’ expository message for “every word of God!” Now Slide or Video Explanation Attached. ) https://qrgo.page.link/TTWvi (Worship songs to the Lord)

Q1. In verse 6 “Nevertheless they did not depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who had made Israel sin, but walked in them; and the wooden image also remained in ,” what does it mean in the context? And what can we learn from here? Q2. In verse 14, “ had become sick with the illness of which he would die. Then Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over his face, and said, “O my father, my father, the chariots of Israel and their horsemen!” what can we observe from Elisha, Joash, and Israel? And what can we learn from here? Q3. In verses 18-19, “ Then he said, “Take the arrows”; so he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground”; so he struck three times, and stopped. 19 And the man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck Syria till you had destroyed it! But now you will strike Syria only three times,” what do these mean? And how can we apply these to our life? (Background for Daily Bible Reading and Studying Weekly Book Basis)

In the last time, Joash the king of Judah the southern kingdom (the 2nd column of the following table) began to be a good king while Jehoiada the high priest was alive. But after his death, Joash the king killed his son Zechariah and allowed people to worship idols on high places in 2 Chronicles 24:20-21 “Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, who stood above the people, and said to them, “Thus says God: ‘Why do you transgress the commandments of the LORD, so that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, He also has forsaken you.’ ” 21 So they conspired against him, and at the command of the king they stoned him with stones in the court of the house of the LORD.”

And so Joash the king of Judah the southern kingdom was assassinated by his servants in 2 Kings 12:21 “For Jozachar the son of Shimeath and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him. So he died, and they buried him with his fathers in the City of David. Then Amaziah his son reigned in his place.”

Now we’re moving into the Northern Kingdom Israel (the 1st column of the following table). In Israel, there were no good kings because they worshipped idols.

Then Jeroboam sat on his 14= Q2 Elisha had become sick with the illness of which he would die (See “the time order of Prophets,” throne. And Joash was buried in Samaria above; Elisha the prophet ministered for 50 years. We as Christians should live by faith to be with the Lord forever by either 14 Elisha had become sick with the illness death or rapture 2 Cor 5:1-815); Joash ..came down to him (Joash visited on him); wept over his face (he wept of which he would die. Then Joash the over Elisha’s face); said “O my father, my father, the chariots of Israel and their horsemen!” (“the chariots of king of Israel came down to him, and Israel and their horsemen” implies the strength of Israel; wept over his face, and said, “O my this statement of Joash cited from Elisha’s statement to Elijah who had gone up by a whirlwind into heaven in 2 father, my father, the chariots of Israel Kings 2:11-1216; Here, Joash the king recognized that Elisha the prophet’s full obedience to God was a good and their horsemen!” example to the people of Israel to be strong, but he did not recognize (1) that as not only a prophet but also a king his full obedience to God would cause the strength of Israel too and (2) that the strength was ascribed to God, not to Elisha or any other creatures James 5:1717)

13 2 Kings 11:21 Jehoash was seven years old when he became king; 2 Kings 12:1 In the seventh year of Jehu, Jehoash became king, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zibiah of Beersheba 14 2 Kings 14:16So Jehoash rested with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel. Then Jeroboam his son reigned in his place. 15 2 Cor 5:1-8For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, 3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 4 For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. 6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. 16 :11-12Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried out, “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel and its horsemen!” So he saw him no more. And he took hold of his own clothes and tore them into two pieces 17 James 5:17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months 5

And he said partial/half-hearted obedience to the word of God delivered by Elisha in verse 17b, “till you have to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground”; destroyed them”) so he struck three times, and stopped.

19 19= Q3 …You should have struck 5 or 6 times ….till And the man of God was angry with you had destroyed it! But now you will strike Syria only him, and said, “You should have struck 3 times (because of your partial obedience, you will recover your lost territories partially. Upon our five or six times; then you would have halfhearted obedience to God, we can’t receive the full gifts of the word of God, e.g., we can pray to the Lord struck Syria till you had destroyed it! But like “Lord give us whatever You want to give us. We are ready to obey You in full.”) now you will strike Syria only three times.”

20 Then Elisha died, and they buried him. 20= Then Elisha died; they buried him (the corpse of And the raiding bands from invaded Elisha was put in the sepulcher)…..the raiding bands from Moab invaded the land (the group of Moabites the the land in the spring of the year. thieves invaded the land of Israel at Elisha’s death)
