In verse 6 “Nevertheless they did not depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who had made Israel sin, but walked in them; and the wooden image also remained in Samaria,” what does it mean in the context? And what can we learn from here? Q2. In verse 14, “Elisha had become sick with the illness of which he would die. Then Joash the king of Israel came down to him, and wept over his face, and said, “O my father, my father, the chariots of Israel and their horsemen!” what can we observe from Elisha, Joash, and Israel? And what can we learn from here? Q3. In verses 18-19, “ Then he said, “Take the arrows”; so he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground”; so he struck three times, and stopped. 19 And the man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times; then you would have struck Syria till you had destroyed it! But now you will strike Syria only three times,” what do these mean? And how can we apply these to our life? (Background for Daily Bible Reading and Studying Weekly Book Basis) In the last time, Joash the king of Judah the southern kingdom (the 2nd column of the following table) began to be a good king while Jehoiada the high priest was alive. But after his death, Joash the king killed his son Zechariah and allowed people to worship idols on high places in 2 Chronicles 24:20-21 “Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, who stood above the people, and said to them, “Thus says God: ‘Why do you transgress the commandments of the LORD, so that you cannot prosper? Because you have forsaken the LORD, He also has forsaken you.’ ” 21 So they conspired against him, and at the command of the king they stoned him with stones in the court of the house of the LORD.” And so Joash the king of Judah the southern kingdom was assassinated by his servants in 2 Kings 12:21 “For Jozachar the son of Shimeath and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him. So he died, and they buried him with his fathers in the City of David. Then Amaziah his son reigned in his place.” Now we’re moving into the Northern Kingdom Israel (the 1st column of the following table). In Israel, there were no good kings because they worshipped idols. 1 Online Word for Global Crusade (Sermon: Daily Bible Expository Study) by CCAH PRESS® Time Order (#) of the Kings and the Prophets1 # Israel’s Reign # Judah’s Rei # Prophets Reference (Bible; Kings) Kings Period Kings gn (Life2) (Reference) (reference) Peri od 1 Jeroboam (1 931- 1 Rehoboam 931- 1 Elijah 1 Ki 15-24 Jehoshapat Ki 12:25-33) 910 (1 Ki 11:43) 913 (875-850) ; 1 Ki 16:28 Ahab 2 Nadab 910- 2 Abijam (1 Ki 913- 2 Elisha 1 Ki 22:50 Jehoram (1 Ki 14:20; 909 14:31) 911 (850-800) 15:25) 3 Baasha (1 909- 3 Asa3 (1 Ki 911- 7 Isaiah 2 Ki 15:7 Jotham Ki 15:16, 28) 886 15:8) 870 (745-695) 4 Elah (1 Ki 886- 4 Jehoshaph 870- 11 Jeremiah4 2 Ki 23:34 Jehoiakim [Eliakim] 16:6) 885 at (1 Ki 848 (626-586) 15:24) 5 Zimri (1 Ki 885 5 Jehoram5 848- 16:11) (1 Ki 22:50) 841 Tibni (1 Ki 885- 6 Ahaziah (2 841 16:21) 880 Ki 8:24) 6 Omri (1 Ki 880- Athaliah6 (2 841- 15 Ezekiel Babylon conquered Judah 16:16) 874 Ki 11:1) 835 (592-570) 7 Ahab7 (1 Ki 874- 7 Joash (2 Ki 835- 14 Daniel 16:28) 853 11:21) 796 (606-534) 8 Ahaziah (1 853- 8 Amaziah (2 796- 6 Hosea 2 Ki 15:7 Jotham Ki 22:40) 852 Ki 12:21) 767 (760-720) 9 Jehoram8 (2 852- 9 Azariah 767- 3 Joel (840- 2 Ki 11:21 Joash Ki 1:17) 841 [Uzziah] (2 740 830) Ki 14:21; 2 Ch 26) 10 Jehu (2 Ki 841- 10 Jotham (2 740- 5 Amos 2 Ki 15:7 Jotham 9:13) 814 Ki 15:7; 2 736 (780-740) Ch 27) 11 Jehoahaz (2 814- 11 Ahaz (2 Ki 736- 13 Obadia 2 Ki 24:17 Zedekiah Ki 10:35; 798 15:38; 2 Ch 716 (586 - ?) 13:1) 28) 12 Jehoash (2 798- 12 Hezekiah 716- 4 Jonah 2 Ki 14:21 Azariah [Uzziah] Ki 13:9) 782 (2 Ki 16:20; 687 (790-770) 2 Ch 29) 13 Jeroboam II 782- 13 Manasseh 687- 8 Micah 2 Ki 15:38 Ahaz (2 Ki 14:16) 753 (2 Ki 20:21; 642 (740-700) 2 Ch 33) 1 Joseph P.
