I also participated in weekly meetings where presentations were given discussing relevant peer-reviewed literature on topics related to our individual studies. A memorable experience was my participation as a test subject in another research assistant’s fMRI study. I sat in an MRI machine for 2 hours and did various tasks to help the researchers prepare for data collection from actual test subjects. This experience overall was valuable for me because I was on the fence about whether I wanted to go to medical school or graduate school. I think that while the research material is interesting, I have de- cided I’d rather go to medical school. So for next year I will be taking a gap year to take the MCAT and apply while hopefully working in a related field for more experience.

Jack Bolen #16 – Midfield – Bethesda, MD – Landon School Arts & Sciences (Government) This summer I worked as a Sales and Trading Intern at Credit Suisse in New York City. Over the course of the ten-week program, I rotated with three different groups: Fixed Income Research, Global Credit Products, and Equity Cash Trading. I spent most of my time during the day sitting on the trading desk and learning how the different roles at the firm and within the finance industry at-large come together to interact. I com- pleted a project for each of the three groups, as I pitched two trade ideas, one for a loan and one for a stock, and presented a report on how varying fiscal policy outcomes would affect the U.S. national debt over the next ten years. Spending time with so many Cornell alums, both at Credit Suisse and across the city, made the summer a fun and rewarding experience. I am excited to return to Credit Suisse full-time as a Sales and Trading Analyst with the Global Credit Products group in 2018. /CornellLacrosseAssociation @CornellLaxAssn @CornellLaxAssociation

This summer I spent most of my time analyzing the residential real estate markets in New Jersey, collecting data, and creating models that showed various aspects of the market such as the number of transactions, average days on market, and average sale price of each zip code. Previously, I had worked for Mackenzie Commercial Real Estate in Baltimore, where I interned with the commercial leasing team, so this summer was a bit of a different experience for me. Working at Harborside, I was able to improve my research and analytical skills, which will help in the future as I pursue a career in commercial real estate.

Tyler Miller #22 – Midfield – Rye, NY – Rye Country Day School Agriculture & Life Sciences (Applied Economics and Management) I spent summer 2017 working as an Investment Banking Intern at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. After a week of training, I spent 9 weeks working on the desk with the Technology, Media & Telecom group. I found this opportunity with a great deal of help and support from various Cornell lacrosse alumni including Paul Shea ‘90, who worked at the firm. My role as a summer analyst was centered on helping put together marketing materials for meetings with clients and potential deals in the Technology, Media & Telecom industries. I was involved in pitching multiple buy-side M&A transactions as well as an Initial Public Offering. The most challenging part of the job was completing the summer intern project in which I had to individually come up with a merger idea in the media industry, perform a full-fledged financial analysis, and present my pitch to a panel of full-time employees in the group. Over the course of the summer I developed a very useful and marketable skillset while furthering my understanding of the finance industry. After graduation, I plan to continue my career in the finance industry. I will either be returning to BAML or pursuing another full-time investment banking opportunity.

Matt Pinto #28 – Defense – Englewood, CO – Kent Denver School Arts & Sciences (History) This summer I interned for Morgan Stanley in the Wealth Management division, serving as the primary intern for the CMF Group. During my time at Mor- gan Stanley, my responsibilities ranged from updating client asset allocations to creating documents and spreadsheets for individual and group meetings. Additionally, I sat in on a variety of conference calls amongst different financial firms that covered topics such as the real estate sector or general market up- dates. The most challenging part of my internship was simply getting accustomed to the language of the financial sector. My experience at Morgan Stanley strengthened my interest in wealth management, and I couldn’t have been happier with my experience overall.

Jake Pulver #34 – Defense – Manlius, NY – Fayetteville-Manlius High School Agriculture & Life Sciences (Biological Sciences) This summer I spent the majority of my time studying and preparing for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). I studied almost every day throughout July and August for the whole day. I took the test on August 18th. Along with studying I spent some time volunteering and helping insert data for Dr. Wali, a GI doctor who works at Upstate Children’s hospital. The data was for a study that was looking at the correlation between a specific protein in an inflammato- ry bowel disease (IBD) patient’s body and the severity of their symptoms. I am also helping at an event that Upstate hospital is running in September where athletes who have or had IBD come and meet with parents and children in order to give them advice about how to deal with symptoms. Dr. David Duggan, who is the father of rising sophomore midfielder Sam Duggan, has been in contact with me throughout the summer. He has been extremely helpful in putting me on the right tract to give me the best shot to get into medical school. I plan on getting my scores back in October and applying for medical school next year.

Troy Revello #4 – Midfield – Great River, NY – East Islip High School Agriculture & Life Sciences (Environmental Science and Sustainability) This summer I interned at Lazard Asset Management in the Capital Advisory Group. Lazard Asset Management is global firm with an investment focus that specializes in emerging markets. Over the 10-week program, my responsibilities included market research, client servicing, and a final sales presentation on Lazard’s Emerging Markets Multi-Asset strategy. After speaking with Cornell alumnus and Lazard’s Head of Global Fixed Income, Dave Cleary ‘87, I understood that the firm is making a push into the multi-asset space. The conversation with Dave was crucial in helping me deliver a great final sales presentation. My experience at Lazard strengthened my interest in the asset management industry and increased my enthusiasm for working at a firm like Lazard. I could not be happier with the summer and I am grateful for all of the Cornell alumni that helped me along the way.

With the Arrows, we won the Ontario Championship and then the Minto Cup in August. In addition to lacrosse, I also worked for my uncle’s landscaping business. I worked over 200 hours as a heavy machinery operator. While I am not sure exactly what career I want to pursue after graduation, I plan to move back to Akwesasne and explore different job opportunities. I also plan to enter the 2018 NLL draft.
