Und gefeiert wird auf der AIRPOWER11 natürlich auch: Die Sonderausstellung „100 Jahre Militärluftfahrt in Österreich“ im Hangar 8 lädt mit fast jedem Fluggerät, das in der Zweiten Republik im Einsatz war, zum Staunen ein. Ein attraktives Rahmenprogramm für die ganze Familie, ganztägige professionelle Kinderbetreuung und traditionelle Leckerbissen runden die diesjährige AIRPOWER ab. Ihr AIRPOWER11-Team 2 100 JAHRE MILITÄRLUFTFAHRT IN ÖSTERREICH HIGHLIGHTS AUS 100 JAHREN Das Österreichische Bundesheer präsentiert auf der AIRPOWER11 eindrucksvoll die Leistungsfähigkeit seiner Luftstreitkräfte und verdeutlicht damit anschaulich seine oberste Maxime im Dienste Österreichs: unserem Land Schutz und Hilfe durch Mensch und Technik zu bieten. Bei dieser Leistungsschau können die Zuschauer modernste Technik in perfektem Zusammenspiel erleben – und nur wenige Meter entfernt auf historische Entdeckungstour gehen: Denn das Bundesheer feiert „100 Jahre Militär- luftfahrt in Österreich“ mit einer Sonderausstellung im Hangar 8. In dieser sind Ex- emplare praktisch aller Fluggeräte zu sehen, die in der Zweiten Republik zum Einsatz kamen. Doch nicht nur die „aktiven Komponenten“ werden gezeigt: Auch die Ent- wicklung der österreichischen Luftraumüberwachung hin zu einer der modernsten Europas wird thematisiert. ANSCHAUEN, ANFASSEN, POSIEREN, PILOTIEREN Besondere Highlights im Programm der Sonderausstellung sind unter anderem das Eurofighter- und das Eurocopter-Modell zum Probesitzen. Die große Modellbau- ausstellung fasziniert besonders detailverliebte Besucher, während der Indoorflug- Europameister zeigt, was in seinen wendigen Fluggeräten steckt – und Besucher natürlich herzlich dazu einlädt, sich selbst als Indoor-Piloten zu versuchen. 3 DIE STEIERMARK GENUSSVOLL VIELFÄLTIG Die Steiermark ist mit dem höchsten Waldanteil nicht nur das „Grüne Herz Österreichs“, sondern bietet auch in den Bereichen Kulinarik, Kunst und Sport besonders vielfältige Gründe für einen Besuch. So stehen sich etwa die American Football-Weltmeisterschaft (8. bis 16. Juli) und die 1. Chorweltmeisterschaften für die Jugend (10. bis 17. Juli) gegen- über, während die styriarte (24. Juni bis 24. Juli) mit klassischer Musik die geneigten Gehörgänge mitreißt. Und auch Freunden des Motorsports ist die Steiermark seit Jahren ein Begriff, wurde doch der Große Preis von Österreich von 1970 bis 1987 in Zeltweg und von 1997 bis 2003 in Spielberg ausgetragen. Der im Mai 2011 neu eröffnete Red Bull Ring in Spielberg dürfte zudem die nächste steirische Motorsport-Ära einläuten. Neben dem vollen Klang der Festspielwochen und dem Dröhnen der Motoren ist die Steiermark aber auch besonders für den stillen Genuss weltbekannt. Die Steirer schei- nen keine Grenzen zu kennen, was die Komposition ihrer kulinarischen Schätze betrifft – zarter Vulcano-Schinken, international renommierte Essige und Öle, hunderte Sorten handgeschöpfter Schokolade, das Sulmtaler Huhn und der traditionelle Zirbenschnaps lassen die geschmackliche Vielfalt erahnen, die sich in diesem Bundesland konzentriert. 4 DIE FLYING BULLS RAUM FÜR RARITÄTEN Die Welt ist voller Scheunen, in denen bislang noch unentdeckte Raritäten der Luftfahrt- geschichte vor sich hindämmern. Dem leidenschaftlichen Einsatz von Sigi Angerer – seines Zeichens Chefpilot der Flying Bulls – und seinem Team ist es zu verdanken, dass solche Raritäten aufgespürt, erworben und nach Salzburg gebracht werden. Rund 60 Personen vom Backoffice-Mitarbeiter über den Techniker bis zum Flight Attendant arbei- ten dort nicht nur daran, aus den meist ziemlich ramponierten Fliegern in vielen tausend Arbeitsstunden hochglanzpolierte Preziosen zu machen, sondern sie auch wieder ihrer ursprünglichen Bestimmung zuzuführen: dem Fliegen. Denn die Flying Bulls-Piloten kennen nichts Schöneres, als diese einzigartigen Flug- geräte in gesunder Bewegung zu halten. Auf der AIRPOWER11 sind die schönsten Stücke der Flying Bulls am Himmel und am Boden zu bewundern.
