Of those who were eco- nomically active69.6% were in employment, 8.0% were self-employed and 5,9% were unemployed. This is compared with 75.8%, 13.5% and 5.4% respectively for Shropshire. 24.6% of residents were economically inactive (these are people who are not seeking a job, and in- clude those who are retired, full time students, looking after family or long term sick). This figure was significantly higher than the Shropshire level of 19.9%.
