    THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND PARKING PLACES) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2009 1 THE SHROPSHIRE COUNCIL (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND PARKING PLACES) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2009 The Shropshire Council in exercise of its powers under Sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 32, 35, 45, 46 and 49 and Parts IV of Schedule 9 and having regard to Section 122 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act of 1984) as amended and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act of 1984, hereby makes the following Order. SECTION 1 – GENERAL Citation and commencement 1. This Order shall come into operation on 25 November 2009 and may be cited as The Shropshire Council (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2009. 2. The Shropshire Council (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2009 Plans including the key (the “Plans”) are incorporated into this Order. Interpretation 3. In this Order, except where the context otherwise requires, the following expressions have the meaning hereby respectively assigned to them: “Council” means The Shropshire Council and includes any parking services contractors or authorised agent appointed by or acting on behalf of the Council for the purposes of any function under the provisions of this Order; 2 “administrative area” means the area within the boundary of each respective town or area as shown on the Plans; “civil enforcement

    Schools in Oswestry and the surrounding area Albert Road Board School Oswestry Erected in 1880 with a Master’s House. Changed its name to Public Elementary School, Albert Road, Oswestry c1905, all the staff remained the same, according to the Trade Directories. Headteachers Alexander Nelson (1880-1892) & (1895-1905>) Early Life and Education Alexander was born in Blackburn. Lancashire in 1845. The eldest son of William Nelson, a marble cutter, formerly boatman and his wife Jane nee Booth. He had a sister and a brother, Rebecca born 4th June 1848 and William b1850. The family moved from Blackburn to Manchester c1848 and on the 1851 Census they are living in 2 Faulkner St., Manchester, Lancashire, where the father is a marble cutter. Certified School Master Career On the 1871 Census Alexander is lodging with the Hughes family in Oswestry and gives his occupation as school teacher. In the Trade Directories and Parish Magazines he is shown as the Master in the British School for this year until at least 1877. By the 1881 Census he is the Headmaster at Albert Road Board School and is living in the School House, where he remains until 1892. On the 1901 Census he is living in 44 York St., Oswestry and describes himself as a Certified Schoolmaster. Trade Directories show him as the Headmaster of Albert Road Board School 1895-1900 and the Public Elementary School in 1905. On the 1911 Census he is living in 42 York St., Oswestry and is now retired. Personal Life On 28th October 1875 he married Jane Morgan in Oswestry.

    The Implementation and Impact of the Reformation in Shropshire, 1545-1575 Elizabeth Murray A thesis submitted in fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts United Faculty of Theology The Melbourne College of Divinity October, 2007 Abstract Most English Reformation studies have been about the far north or the wealthier south-east. The poorer areas of the midlands and west have been largely passed over as less well-documented and thus less interesting. This thesis studying the north of the county of Shropshire demonstrates that the generally accepted model of the change from Roman Catholic to English Reformed worship does not adequately describe the experience of parishioners in that county. Acknowledgements I am grateful to Dr Craig D’Alton for his constant support and guidance as my supervisor. Thanks to Dr Dolly Mackinnon for introducing me to historical soundscapes with enthusiasm. Although the bed of the canal was seen, it had been much disturbed by late 20th century activity at this point. The pipe trench also crossed the line of a post-medieval (and possibly medieval) mill leat which ran parallel to the canal. The remains of 20th century gravel extraction plant were also encountered.

The previous application sought planning permission for the subdivision of the property into 3 units of residential accommodation but was refused on intensification grounds. 2.0 SITE LOCATION/DESCRIPTION 2.1 The application site is located within the Sutton Farm area to the south of the town centre. The area is residential in character, with a mixture of house types around the dwelling – single storey bungalows to the side and rear and two storey terraced properties opposite. Properties along Sutton Road are set back from the highway with off street parking at the front. No. 148 has a double garage fronting Sutton Road and parking provision in front of the garage for up to 4 vehicles. 2.2 The dwelling benefits from a large garden at the side adjacent to the junction with Melrose Drive and a smaller area of amenity space at the rear. The scale and design of the property appears to have evolved over the years from a single storey dwelling to a two storey property having had several extensions approved in relation to a business use operating from the site for a chiropractor.
