Reporting Entity a) Sydney Cricket Club (the “Club”) is an Incorporated Association under the Associations Incorporation Act 1984 (NSW). This financial report is a special purpose financial report prepared in order to satisfy the financial reporting requirements of the Associations Incorporation Act of New South Wales. The committee has determined that the Club is not a reporting entity. As the committee determined that the Club is not a reporting entity there is no requirement to apply applicable Accounting Standards or other authoritative pronouncements of the Australian Accounting Standards Board in the preparation and presentation of these financial statements. The report is also prepared on an accrual basis and is based on historic costs and does not take into account changing money values or, except where specifically stated, current valuations of non-current assets. The following specific accounting policies, which are consistent with the previous period unless otherwise stated, have been adopted in the preparation of this report: 2. Summary of Significant Accounting Policies a) Basis of Preparation The Club is incorporated under the Associations Incorporations Act 1984 (NSW) and the financial report is not required to be prepared in accordance with the Corporations Act 2001. The financial report of the Club has been prepared as a special purpose financial report for use by the Board and its members. The accounting policies used in the preparation of this financial report, as described below, are consistent with the previous years, and are, in the opinion of the Board, appropriate to meet the needs of members: i. The financial report has been prepared on an accrual basis of accounting including the historical cost convention and the going concern assumption. ii. The Club is not a reporting entity because in the opinion of the Board they are unlikely to have users of the financial report who are unable to command the preparation of reports so as to satisfy specifically all of their financial needs. The Committee has determined that in order for the financial report to present fairly the Club’s performance and financial position, the requirements of Australian Accounting Standards and other financial reporting requirements in Australia relating to the measurement of assets, liabilities, revenues, expenses and equity should be complied with. b) Statement of Compliance Certain Australian Accounting Standards and Interpretations have recently been issued or amended but are not yet effective and have not been adopted by the Club for the annual reporting period ended 30 April 2016. The directors have not early adopted any of these new or amended standards or interpretations. The directors have not yet fully assessed the impact of these new or amended standards (to the extent relevant to the Club) and interpretations. Page 11 SYDNEY CRICKET CLUB INCORPORATED FINANCIAL AND ANNUAL REPORT 2015-16 2. Summary of Significant Accounting Policies...Continued c) Property and Equipment Property and Equipment is carried at cost less, where applicable, any accumulated depreciation. The depreciable amount of all fixed assets are depreciated over the useful lives of the assets to the Club commencing from the time the asset was held ready for use. Leasehold improvements are depreciated over the shorter of either the unexpired period of the lease or the estimated useful lives of the improvements. The carrying amount of fixed assets is reviewed annually by directors to ensure it is not in excess of the recoverable amount of these assets.
