Fifth Annual Report 2005-06 4th Grade Premiers 5th Grade Premiers AW Green Shield Semi-Finalists Club President Michael Whitney with 2005-06 Premiership Cups and winning captains David Townsend - 4th Grade and Dean White - 5th Grade www.randwickpetershamcricket.com.au Randwick Petersham Cricket 2005-06 Highlights ………. • 4th and 5th Grade Premiers – giving the club five premierships in five seasons • 4th Grade Minor Premiers – the third minor premiership for the club • Finalist in the Metropolitan Shield competition (our 6th Grade team) • Semi-finalist in the A W Green Shield Competition for the second successive year • 5th Grade won last 10 matches to win premiership • Simon Katich appointed NSW Captain and played for NSW in the Pura Cup and ING Cup • Simon Katich played Test cricket for Australia in England in the 2005 Ashes Series and against the West Indies in Australia • Simon Katich played One Day International cricket for Australia against England in England; Sri Lanka and South Africa in Australia; South Africa in South Africa and Bangladesh in Bangladesh • Richard Chee Quee retired as 7th highest run scorer in the history of Sydney Grade Cricket • Usman Khawaja played for NSW in the Australian Under 19 Years Championships and named as Player of the Championships • Usman Khawaja played for Australia in Under 19 Years World Cup in Sri Lanka • Usman Khawaja played Second XI for NSW and awarded “Rookie” contract for 2006-07 • AW Green Shield player Rob Close selected in the Combined A W Green Shield team • Peter Alevizos played for NSW in the Australian Under 17 Years Championships • James Le Huray named 3rd Grade SCA Captain of the Year • Campbell Dash and Karl Schubert each effected 7 dismissals in an innings in 4th Grade • Matt Hilder took a hat-trick in 5th Grade against Blacktown—the 6th for the club • Famous fast bowler Dennis Lillee attended a club training session as guest coach • All 5 grades won against Blacktown for the third time in 4 seasons • Greg Hartshorne awarded Life Membership of Sydney Cricket Association • 4th Grade’s premiership win gave Greg Hartshorne and manager John Connell their fourth successive premiership • Life Member Lyall Gardner awarded Order of Australia Medal for cricket administration • Coogee Oval rated no.1 1st Grade cricket ground in Sydney for the season’s final 10 weeks • The club finished 4th in the overall Spirit Of Cricket ratings and rated no.1 in 2nd Grade • Established the Randwick Petersham Cricket Academy • Obtained Council approval for a club museum at Petersham Oval • Former Randwick Petersham player Jon Lewis wins English Test cap v Sri Lanka ……….and the Lowlights • Club declined to 16th position in the Club Championship after four seasons in the top 7 • 1st Grade team finished 19th after failing to record a win in the first 15 matches • 1st Grade team finished last in the Limited Overs Competition • All 5 grades lost against Penrith—the first all grades loss by the club • Playing standard of Petersham Oval declined to last position on 1st Grade grounds list 1 Randwick Petersham Cricket Club Incorporated Founded 2001 www.randwickpetershamcricket.com.au FIFTH ANNUAL REPORT 2005-06 Notice of Annual Meeting Notice is hereby given that the Fifth Annual General Meeting of Randwick Petersham Cricket Club Incorporated will be held at Petersham RSL Club, Regent St., Petersham on Wednesday 19 July 2006 at 7.00pm.
