Most common problems a PDF onto pre-printed forms (such as Certificate of Origin or Movement Certificate forms)

1. Scaling

Printers come with a variety of pre-set print area (page ) sizes. Since these print area sizes can vary from printer to printer, you want to make sure that Page Scaling is turned off. This will create a consistent area for printing.

The page scaling setting is found on the Print Dialogue Box (the box that pops up after you click on the “Print” icon). 9

Page Scaling should be set to “None”

2. Size

Paper size should be set to A4. Please note that many printers ship with the default set to U.S. size. Since U.S. Letter Size paper is shorter and wider than A4 paper, this will cause print problems, especially at the bottom of the page.

Note here that paper size says 8.5 x 11 and also a gray band is shown at the top and bottom of the print image. This example is set for U.S. Letter size (8.5 x 11), which is wrong!

Set paper size for A4 when you print. Click on the “Properties” button – every printer has slightly different settings, but someplace within “Properties” you will find a place to change paper size – choose A4. You might also wish to refer to your printer’s manual, to make the change permanently (which will help with all your printing, on the assumption that most of your printing is done on A4 paper). Page shows 8.27 X 11.69, and there is no gray band at top and bottom of the print image. This is set for 9 A4 size paper (8.27 x 11.69), which is correct.

Print Adjustment Tool

In most cases, ensuring that your print settings are correct will allow you to print perfect documents. However, if you find that your print alignment is still off, you can adjust the alignment using the system’s Print Adjustment Tool.

You may wish to use this tool in any event, which will allow you to print a test document for alignment checking.

You will find the Print Adjustment Tool within the system as follows:

1. Log in to the system.

2. Click on the “My Account” link.

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Edit Profile”.

4. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on the Print Adjustment link.

5. A Print Adjustment tool will open, which will allow you to print a test page and check / adjust your print alignment. The print adjustment settings will be automatically saved for you for future printing.
