Dear Readers churches and four hotels simultaneously backed by ISIS. The matter of concern is Sri Lanka was untouched by any external terrorist Greetings!! activity until now. This attack indicates the growing network of ISIS Any comment on the month of May 2019 can never be complete determined to terrorize the masses. Emerging as a major threat which without touching upon the historic parliament election of 2019. This the world community has to design and implement effective counter is the much hyped and highly controversial election in the history of strategy to stop. India. The 2019 election made sensational by both the ruling party Lastly I like to inform our readers that the magazine successfully and the opposition. While NDA led by PM Modi appealed to after touched the 7 years milestone starting from May 2012, at that time the historic win 2014 parliament election that led down to work for the mandatory CSR Law was not present. People have been working four years and spend last one year for electioneering. However the in the domain of CSR since mid-90s and drafting the CSR policies opposition led by the congress got into the election mode immediately for Govt. of India for the PSEs. I had developed a gut feeling that after Modi govt. took oath. This is because the opposition congress national level CSR law mandating CSR spending is around the corner party was completely devastated after the defeat. Congress party can and that feeling turned into reality when the bill was introduced in see the possibility of their complete annihilation. They got scared by parliament on 27th February, 2014 and have come into effect from campaign slogan of Narendra Modi “congress muktbharat” means 1st April, 2014. Enactment of the law is generally the beginning of the India free from Congress which indicated the goal of BJP to completely revolution. Dissemination of information for the engaging awareness destroy Congress party. This sense of insecurity induces the conduct and application of CSR was the key step for landing of the act on the of the congress and the opposition party during the whole tenure of ground. CSR VISION was conceptualized and launched in advance the govt. from 2014 to 2019. Confirm by the efforts of Congress to of the law to create an environment for making the implementation block the govt. in the Parliament and painting the govt. as an anti- of the law more effective. Although CSR VISION remained the first farmer. Lastly Congress brought up Rafael issue to paint PM Modi in magazine of India that has generated the necessary CSR awareness poor light and branded him as a thief. This Rafael issue was kept hot. and knowledge. I still feel that CSR VISION has not been able to reach Even the SC of India brought into this conflict and Rahul Gandhi, the all the relevant target audience. We have experienced large MNCs Congress president quoted the SC of India wrongly calling PM Modi a who were eligible for the CSR according to the law are not inclined to thief to which SC of India objected. The thief campaign continued even subscribe to magazine and pay for rather happy to get the magazine after the issue was discussed and clarified by the Modi govt. led by complementary not indicating a responsible corporate behaviour for the Defense Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman and Finance Minister Arun below the level of expectation of spending 2% of profit. I pray God Jaitly. Therefore we can say that the electioneering of 2019 election this mind set of corporate India to change although there is Maharatna has started after May 2014. MAY 2019 NEW DELHI 11 Interview of the month

CSR VISION : With specific reference to technology research development is an intangible thing and I share the knowledge from IITs, an excellent academic track record as yours the which I get so the evolution takes place and it grows, and CSR initiatives by IFCI under your leadership is expected to be has multiple effects. I have spoken and delivered talks about standing out from the rest domain of innovation and creativity strategy, innovation, startups and artificial intelligence and till for making better impact than others out of same amount of date I have covered 1500 people from different universities CSR funds. What is the profile of the differential IFCI makes and public forums. These are the things which we are trying to through CSR? do and through this thought process IFCI ---set up, IFCI Social ANSWER: There are main two things I would like to mention Foundation in 2014, where it has become a core area for the about CSR because I’ve been doing CSR on my own from my foundation to do CSR exclusively instead of doing individual own funds from the last 25 years. Today the definition of CSR tasks separately. We focus that all the money comes to one is changed. Most people think that they have to go and then place. Also, we are very focused with the theme. We have put some physical infrastructure, but the question is what is the started doing more towards the physical infrastructure and skill final impact? So I put it in two ways: one is the funds which development than training programmes and other things. We are as per the act and what is mandatory to be done. As per have chosen this for better evaluation and monitoring. IFCI, through CSR what we are trying to do, and we strongly believe that it should go more for physical infrastructure and is CSR VISION : As in firm you are an Indian CEO who engaged perpetual in nature, then it has its own impact. For example: in Individual Social Responsibility (ISR) through your personal school infrastructure, hospital funds. Please share some infrastructure etc. Men may details of your ISR which can come, men may go but the For the last 25 years I’ve been inspire others. social asset created will stay. ANSWER: For the last 25 Similarly, we are doing spending my own money predominantly years I’ve been spending my things which are very helpful into health and education. Mainly, own money predominantly for needy people for example in health I have helped people with into health and education. supporting the disabled Mainly, in health I have helped people by providing artificial cancer and heart disease. I have people with cancer and heart limbs. We have roughly helped many kids and youth who disease. I have helped many supported 250 people till have suffered from cancer. One of the kids and youth who have date. This is one area; we suffered from cancer. One of are doing in health, then classic examples I would like to mention the classic examples I would in skill development and is of Ms. Archana Tewari, who in 2010 like to mention is of Ms. education, we have our own had breast cancer. I came to know Archana Tewari, who in 2010 skill development institute in had breast cancer. I came to Jaipur, Institute of Leadership about her accidently; I brought her know about her accidently; I Development (ILD) and with from Lucknow to Mumbai and got her brought her from Lucknow to the help of that institute we are operated and treated for 1 year in Mumbai and got her operated working towards development and treated for 1 year in TATA of skills of youngsters through TATA memorial - cancer hospital. memorial - cancer hospital. our CSR funds in textile and Today, she is married and in solar energy. These are the blessed with 2 children. She’s upcoming area where a lot of jobs are being created. This is a nurse and she’s doing some other things on YouTube for her one component of CSR. As I said that I have come from IIT, the livelihood. At the same time, I thought of doing something in biggest technological temple of the country, so I have decided the rural area, so I have become a farmer 10 years back and to give back what I know to the people. I teach every month then adopted 3 remote villages and 1 school. The villages and then educate the students, faculties and the industry. I feel at that time did not even have proper access and were in so that it is also CSR, which is free of cost. I teach the latest areas much interior, where one couldn’t have reached normally. Now, which is in strategy, innovations and startups. Right now I am however one can reach and there is better access. , I have mentoring 5 companies, and all 5 companies are doing very done the social service for some 80-90 families which are well. They are being run by youngsters, one is in agriculture, there in these 3 villages. For last 10 years I have created the one is in electronics, and one is in real estate etc. These have job employments in the farms. IFCI identified the area which become into big businesses from small ventures. And by this, is bordering Odisha and we have found that there are half I have created nearly 800 jobs in the last 3-5 years. Skill build schools. Children are sitting on the floor and there are no

who are very poor. Second one is the school in Gurgaon where the maid’s children or driver’s children who cannot afford education, we provide them education free of cost and even provide the parents of those children relevant jobs in the school for making food and doing other things. Similarly the other one is innovation. As solar energy sector is improving a lot of work would happen in the coming 10 years. Similarly we are trying to open mobile repairing centers in our -ILD, Jaipur. In this skill training minimum education of 10th pass or ITI is required, so that people would get jobs. Today, we have 110 crore mobile phones, and these mobile phones would start to fail after certain time depending upon the rough and tough usage. 70% of the people would not go and buy a new phone just because of the minor issue in the phone, so they would go for the repair, and for that we need more technicians so we’re trying to enhance that. Similarly, solar roof tops will come, pumps will come so we would need technicians who would set up these solar panels or repair the solar panel. So in developing skills like these we are trying to put our money. Further, in weaving community, a lady or a person everyday moves his hand -9000 times for 5 hours at a stretch if he wants to do weaving of a saree and this could cause shoulder problem. So to tackle this problem Mr. -Mallesham has invented a machine called Asu Machine which was inaugurated and identified by the Government of India and for that he got Padmashree. So now the machine will do the job instead of manual operations. So we have funded around -25 such machines.

CSR VISION : Indian business has entered the mandatory CSR era, wef. April, 2014. What has been the response of IFCI to the Provisions of the Section 135 of the Companies Act computers. We in the rural areas. do that, and we see that it goes to the right channel and right people so that the beneficiaries would get that and there is CSR VISION : What are the areas of gap in the CSR space you impact. In fact, now we are doing the impact analysis studies have noticed which can be filled up through innovation and also. On all the initiative which are taken in CSR, we have our creativity may be in the domain of ground level CSR impact or own group of company known as -MPCON Ltd.; they do CSR in the domain of strategic CSR management process? impact analysis study. We intend to do the impact analysis so ANSWER: The basic thing is that, a lot of people think that CSR that we know how many beneficiaries are impacted positively, only means cleaning of roads and building of toilets. Toilets are what skills have been created, how our projects have been necessary no denying, but at the same time CSR has to create relevant and how we can improve further. about capacity building at the lower level of the pyramid. So we focus on that through our CSR activity. here were many contenders who wanted a slice from the coveted CSR cake but the majority got disheartened, disillusioned and disgruntled after five years of the mandated CSR in India. TThere has been a clamor for more from the mandated CSR and now a High Level Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility–2018 (HLC-2018) set by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) is in the process of finalizing its report. AVENGER’S: ENDGAME arvel’s cinematic universe journey came to an end with the latest and final installment AVENGER’S: ENDGAME. After 10 long successful years, this is a conclusive part in which it beautifully ended the whole series. This conclusive Mpart of Marvel Universe is packed with every emotion. It is more like an emotional rollercoaster because it is laced with everything, from comedy to drama, from action to emotional outlook. Even though if you’re not a fan of the franchise, you’d still going to enjoy the movie. The writers did a magnificent job with the screenplay to balance the emotions with the visuals. The screen time of all the characters is not equal but the importance of these characters is equal. From Captain America (Chris Evans) to Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) or from Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) to Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) Endgame quite well delivers the emotional AVENGER’S: ENDGAME quotient. The comic collective of Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Director : Anthony Russo, Joe Russo Ruffalo) and Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) ensures that there are enough lighter moments in the movie. Cast : Chris Evans, Scarlett The action sequence becomes progressively intense along with the Johansson, Brie Larson, major plot twists in the movie.
