Type Description Example

Baseball cap / Бейсболка Headdress with a stiff visor and edges, usually with a fastener on the back. All such articles with a long visor are baseball caps, not caps. Can be insulated, made of leather, and feature ear flaps.

Cap / Кепка Soft headdress with a short visor. Caps come in a variety of models: classic eight-panels, duckbills, flat caps, beret-like caps with a visor, etc. This also includes peaked caps (e.g., navy style similar to captain's caps).

Bucked hat / Панама Soft, mostly made from fabric, bucket- shaped hat with a small brim down.

Bandana / Бандана Traditionally, a scarf to be tied around the head. One-piece headdresses that look like a tied bandana also exist. Adding such square scarves to the scarf category with the Shawl descriptive type is not a mistake.

Headscarf / Косынка A type of headscarf, can come in many variations. Traditionally, a triangular shawl to be tied around the head. Can also be a shawl with an elastic band to be put on the head as a headband, usually a children's article. The difference from the headband is that the upper part is wide and looks like a tied headscarf. Importantly, the headscarf is worn specifically on the head. If the product in the photo is tied around the neck or worn over the shoulders, then it is not a headscarf, but a shawl. Learn more about scarves

Headband/Sports One-piece open-top headdress that only headband / protects the wearer's ears from the cold. Повязка на голову A headband by a sports brand or in a /Повязка на голову sports style designed for training (e.g., for running in cold weather) is a Sports спортивная headband.

The Headband type includes articles that are headwear. They are usually warm, knitted, or crocheted headbands. Decorative headbands designed to adorn the hair or to keep hair away from the face are Alice bands (a type of hair accessory).

Visor / Козырек Open-top visor of any size. Looks like a cap or baseball cap without a top.

Beanie / Шапка Soft headdress that completely covers the head. Most often knitted or crocheted, can be thick and warm or thin. Lightweight summer beanies exist, usually for children. Lean more on beanie types.

Beret / Берет Soft, flat, round headdress without a visor or pronounced crown.

Hat / Шляпа Headdress of a stable shape consisting of a crown and brim of varied width. An article that has a stiff frame, stable shape, and also a small visor is a hat (see example in photo 2; not a cap, as it is soft). Hats can have wide, narrow, or even asymmetrical brims (see photos 4, 5: wide brim up on the front and narrow brim on the back).

Beanie/scarf set / The set can include the following: Комплект шапка и шарф • Beanie and scarf • Beanie and gloves • Scarf and gloves • Beanie, scarf, and mittens, etc. Accessory sets that do not include a beanie, scarf, or gloves do not apply (such as a set of two belts, small ware sets, etc.).

Balaclava / Балаклава One-piece headdress covering all of the head and neck, with a cutout for eyes or the entire face.

Helmet liner / Type of a balaclava. Helmet liners are Подшлемник thin and designed to be worn under helmets (alpine skiing, motorcycle, etc.).
