DID YOU KNOW? The 6 Hours of Silverstone was first held on 26 August 2012, round 4 of the inaugural season of the newly launched FIA World Endurance Championship. In 2013 the 6 Hours of Silverstone moved to April, becoming the opening race of the season until this year, when it has moved back to August once again.

In 2013 the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy was awarded to the overall winners for the first time. The 2013 race was won by , Loic Duval and Allan McNish in an Audi R18 e-tron quattro, the first time Audi’s name appeared on the Tourist Trophy roll of honour which stretches back to 1905.

In 2014 the winners were , Sebastien Buemi and in a Toyota TS040, also the first time Toyota has won the Tourist Trophy. Davidson and Buemi repeated their success in 2016, this time with . In 2016 Porsche also added their name to the roll of honour when , and took the race win.

The Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy was first awarded in 1905 to John Napier driving an Arrol- Johnston after a 6-hour race on the Isle of Man. At 113 years old the Tourist Trophy is the world’s oldest motorsport trophy still being contested.

As overall winners, Audi has two Tourist Trophy victories (2013, 2015), Toyota two wins (2014, 2017), Porsche one win (2016), five wins (1953, 1958, 1959, 2005, 2008) , Ford three wins (1972, 1988, 1994) , Ferrari with six wins (1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1998) and WEC newcomers BMW the most with eight victories in the 1970s and 80s(1973, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1984, 1987).

Sir has won the Tourist Trophy more than any other driver - seven times in all: twice in an Aston Martin (‘58, ‘59) and twice in a Ferrari (‘60, ’61). He also won twice in a Jaguar and once in a Mercedes-Benz.

In LMGTE Pro, since 2012 honours have been shared between the four manufacturers competing prior to the 2018 season. Ferrari won in 2012, 2015 and 2016, Aston Martin in 2013, Porsche in 2014 and Ford in 2017.
