Pasted down on the front endpaper: Heraldic bookplate of David Murray introducing monogram, engraved on wood by Thomas Moring, 19th century engraver and heraldic artist (the bookplate is described in One hundred book plates engraved on wood by Thomas Moring. This edition of the Vespers book is arr. strictly in accordance with the Roman breviary, so that the Proper of Saints follows right after the Sundays, and the Commons of the Saints has its place at the end. The Hymns and the Antiphons after Complin are translated in the same metre as the Latin originals. The venerable Gregorian tones for chanting the Psalms are given at the end. Eventually, when John Edmond died in December 1876, his son John Philip Edmond and James Spark became partners in the firm. John Philip Edmond died in January 1906.
